Vital Manchester City's man of the match against West Ham was Brazilian midfielder Elano.

According to 37% of readers who voted Elano was the man who shone out in an excellent team performance.

It was a close run thing however, with home grown academy product Micah Richards polling 36% of the vote.

Watched the match on the internet. The highlights did not do Hamann justice and is SGE bit of experience he was talking about.

Have to agree, I voted for Hamann, as the holding midfielder he was constantly breaking up play & his passing was excellent. His type of player though crucial, tends to go un-noticed.

We suddenly have options in all directions, Blues! Agree with ronin. Hamman could be losing the "Mac" and "aman" from his nickname if he keeps this form up!

Just goes to show, what a manager who has tactical sense can do with players who, the fans were ready to throw out. I can see in Samaras that he has talent, but not £6 million quids worth, but can Svennis do anything with him?

If Samaras is played in his correct position and gets the service that was missing last season then he could become a £10 million player.

i will admit i did think elano played the better game but richards did have a good game aswell. Have to admit the team played a stormer lets hope we do the same today aginst derby

DD, compared with the Hamann of last season, this was brilliant and thats why we got him in the first place, Pearce just did not know how to use him. I agree Alphie b. we have to remember that he is only young and needs to learn the game and last season I think he learnt nothing playing out of position, I just do not know if Svennis will see if he has the talent. Svennis is also not sure about letting Schmikes and Hart face United in the Derby, not experienced enough to play against them,I just wish that we could have played them later in the season. Against Derby, even the selection of the bench becomes interesting.
