Anelka Back At City? No Thanks!

Anelka Back At City? No Thanks!

There is no doubting Nicolas Anelka's ability or his goal scoring record. 48 goals in 101 appearances for The Blues is testament to that fact.

But his track record as almost the ultimate mercenary shown by his relentless desire to move clubs after a couple of years is a lack of loyalty to be avoided.

Now he has publicly stated his desire to leave Bolton and drawn a line in the sand for would be suitors. He has revealed in the French L'Equipe sportspaper that his hefty salary must be maintained...

'I'm not prepared to make any sacrifices on a financial level. I know my level and my quality. I will not accept any offer.

I recall him sulking by the bench at Highbury in January 2005 when he decided he had had enough of MCFC and the loyal support many of us had given him, the night SWP scored that cracker.

Anelka's disinterested image that night must be available on video somewhere and I would urge Svennis and Hans Backe to seek it out before considering bringing back a player who could destabilise a steadily bonding young squad with the presence of his ego alone.

It is a good sign that the media are linking us with Anelka it is a sure sign that it won't happen. Has Svennis signed anyone that the media have linked us with ???

Absolutely Alphie. The latest links are Adriano of Inter Milan, Nuno Gomes of Benfica and Julio Baptista of Real Madrid. Meanwhile, my top drawer midfield tip Pascal Feindouno has now banged in 3 goals already for Saint Etienne!!!

I honestly think this is a non starter, Anelka attention span does not last 90 minutes and when the going gets tough 'I'm off' . There is no doubt he can find the net, but we have players who can do that. I just think now we need a right winger. At the time Petrov is taking both sides of the wing. I agree JB not anelka and not at 60k per week.

Adriano wou;ld be a great signing, hopefully the attraction of playing with a couple of his countrymen will tempt him.

DD, Papers say they want £10 mill for Adriano, but I think there are some cheaper ones about who are just as good, One thing for sure it will be a busy week. SGE obviously does not have the faith in the strikers he inherited from Pearce apart from Mpenza, so he does need a striker and hopefully that right winger, which stevie Ireland is covering, but is not his best position.

ireland plays better football in centre midfield but seriously we dnt need a player like anelka on r team. If he doesn have much faith in the strikers we have y doesn he get rid of some of them then we have 7 strikers on r team

DD not easy to get rid of players because we pay high wages the player demands the same or more to the team who wants him, but if they dont match the demands, why move when you can get good money where you are until the contract ends. we have had that trouble for decades being unable to off load players no longer needed.
