'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Time for a boycott?

'That's it - I've had it.' The words of a friend of mine, a City season ticket holder for 13 years. He called me ten minutes ago. 'I can't believe we've sold Fowler,' he yelled down the phone. 'We're ending the transfer window with fewer strikers than we started it with.'

If the board don't put their hands in their pockets and buy two new strikers and a midfielder by Tuesday [the end of the transfer window] I'm boycotting Eastlands. I just can't bear our complete lack of ambition.'

He paused for breath but he wasn't finished.

They let Fowler go because they didn't want to pay Leeds another tranche of the transfer money. What does that say about lack of ambition!? I've had enough. I'm voting with my feet.'

He then hung up after claiming he was going to get, in his words, 'sh**faced'. Phew. Is he going over the top or does he have a point?

There goes our most creative player And our best finisher. For nowt. To the European champions. I'm just off to put some Joy Division on to cheer myself up.

If you ask me, its a good piece of business - £40K off the weekly wage bill. And let's face it Robbie cares more about his terraced houses and horses than he does about MCFC. There's still a few days to go before the window closes - let's just wait and see before investing in a packet of razor blades.
