Barton On The Move?

Reports coming from Sky Sports are suggesting that contract talks between the club and Joey Barton have broken down to such an extent that the midfielder has handed in a transfer request.

If true, this adds credibility to reports earlier this month that suggested Barton was holding out for wages in the region of £30k per week.

Now I'm a fan of Barton as a footballer but I'm afraid he has a rather inflated opinion of himself. He is not in the same class as a Gerrard or Lampard and as such cannot expect to make excessive demands of a club that has done nothing but support him through his well publicised troubles.
In my opinion City should call his bluff, accept his request and hold out for a fee that matches his demands and inflated opinion of himself. Is anyone likely to bid in the region of £10 million?

would not like to see barton go, anyone know just how far apart the club and barton are in thier respective value of each other!!!! agree with article, agree with request and put a figure of £10 million!!!! i wonder is this sour grapes in view of samaras pending contract, or are the stable fees gone up!!!!!!!! joey has played well for us this season and should be rewarded, but were only 10th in the league, think these situations have to work both ways! come on joey get the finger out and get us into europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just goes to show there's NO loyalty in football nowadays. the club stuck with him through thick and mostly thin, as did the fans, and this is how johnny big bollox repays them. this really leaves a nasty taste in the gob. bye joey, you misguided fool.

I don't think it is Joey himself - I doubt he has two brain cells to rub together. It is more likely to be whoever his money-grubbing toe-rag of an agent is that has put JB up to this. "If they don't meet your monster demandth, put in a trathfer requetht". Scum -the lot of em.

Listening on the radio this evening it sounded like the board had rejected his transfer request. I'm never sure of the value in holding onto a player that clearly isn't committed to the cause. I'm confused as to just where JB thinks he's going to. Has anyone shown any interest in him? Personally I'd get Danny Murphy in the squad and dump this loon.
