'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sven joy for Elano (AUDIO)

Goals from Martin Petrov, Emil Mpenza and man of the match Elano gave manager Sven Goran Eriksson every reason to smile, as he watched his side come back from a goal down.

City's boss says it was a 'near perfect performance' by his men, as they preserved their 100% home record this season. And the 59 year-old discusses his Brazilian sensation with the waiting media, revealing that Brazil boss Dunga recommended him highly in the summer.

Am I right in acknowledging that we are caught offside less and less under Svennis? When I consider the relentless raising of the flag when Crappadi and Samars "led" the line, I am sure it's the case.
Johnny Baguette
The main reason for not getting caught offside is that we play with the ball on the floor passing from man to man completely the opposite to last year when it was a case of boot it upfield and nine times out of ten getting caught offside.

I have to say a word about Mpenza, he gives it 100% each match, I do not think he is match fit aswell, but he defends corners well several times he cleared from corners and this was his best game. Stephen Ireland may not like playing right wing, but his interplay with Elano is brilliant and now he his anticipating where Elano is going to play the ball and this gives him 3 to 4 yds/mtrs on the defense. Have been smirking again all weekend and have seen Elanos goal about 30 or 40 times now The TV got a real good angle from behind him. Bet the opposition build a bigger wall next match. Thank you Svennis and Frank!!!
Buzz Lightyear
Quite agree BL about Mpenza, he does a stirling job on his own and the perfect foil for Elano. I think he is fully match fit, his pace is deceptive, he doesn't get beaten very often on a one on one situation.

what a goal elano scored i couldn't do nothing but clap
muffdaddy1983
It truly was a screamer muffdaddy1983. I have been recalling similar out of the Blue missiles since and Ian Brightwell's cracker at The Swamp always stands out for me. Myself and a few other chaps were enjoying the then open spaces of the Stretford End that day. GMP were kind enough to look after us after we celebrated!! I digress. You can't beat a cracking shot, but deadball wise, Elano got amazing power into that free kick. Defences will be bricking it when we get free kicks in dangerous positions from now on!
