Any Blues planning on taking the Snake Pass to FA Cup Glory, think on. Bomber Clinton for MCFC Roadwatch has just checked in...
'Please can MCFC Vital put out a travel
warning? As its not affecting share price, potential sponsors or the King of Thailand's birthday, the club don't seem too bothered about the 7000 Blues with tickets...'
A57 Snake Pass both ways closed, road surface in poor condition due to landslip between Glossop and A6013 (Ladybower Reservoir).
Following a landslide on the morning of Wednesday the 23rd the road between Glossop and Ladybower Reservoir is expected to remain closed until the end of the month.
Start the car and COME ON CITY!!!
UPDATE
MCFC VITAL has just received the latest from Bomber Control. Hope this assistance to all Blues heading on the road to Wembley:
INFO 1) Engineering works is taking place between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport from Saturday 26 January to Sunday 27 January 2008
Start date: Saturday 26 January 2008
End date: Sunday 27 January 2008
Route Affected: Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Manchester Airport, Buxton, Sheffield, Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Stafford, Birmingham New Street, Newport & Cardiff
TOC/s Affected: Northern Rail
Saturday:
Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport will be replaced by buses in both directions.
Sunday:
Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly and Alderley Edge / Stockport / Manchester Airport will be replaced by buses in both directions
Further info. can be found on:

The trainline.com as reported on the MCFC website does not have any engineering works description, but offers the following timings:
Outward journey: Sunday 27 January 2008 Station Arr Dep Travel by Service Provider MANCHESTER PICCADILLY 13:25
Bus TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS
SHEFFIELD 14:55
INFO 2) Bus services all the way to Sheffield seem to be in place. However, given the landslide problem reported there appears to be a further concern if it goes over the Snake. Woodhead is the wrong side for Bramall Lane and the station. The other route is via A6, bearing left at Hazel Grove is as much as I know.
INFO 3) I've followed this up with National Rail.
Automated Lisa, is useless, and quite comical, in her ineptitude at dealing with this. She smiles and thanks you for telling her she is wrong. In the event of problems she advises to phone a number which takes
you through to Anglian rail!
INFO 4) FirstTransPennine Express (0845 6001671) Confirmed buses are still in place.
The 13:25 bus is scheduled for 14:55 arrival.
Having made them aware of the issue, the call handler suggested the bus driver will reroute himself! If I was unsure, not to travel by train.
INFO 5) Having spoke to a supervisor at FirstTransPennine, they have spoke to the bus company who are not aware of any problem, but are unable to confirm which route they are taking. They are going to contact me tomorrow with details of whether the Saturday service was held up. I advised this was not very proactive, but to no avail.
At this stage my advice is go by car over Woodhead even though it brings you out the wrong side or up the A6 and towards Buxton way if you know it. Lets hope the buses do one of the same!
