Sven hopeful on Benjani (AUDIO)

Sven hopeful on Benjani (AUDIO)

It seems Manchester City's home form has been sussed out - all you have to do to beat them at Eastlands is come from North London.

The Citizens' only two defeats in all competition at there fortress of a home ground have come against Tottenham in the Carling Cup Quarter-Final and now their first home loss in the league to Arsenal, who cruised to a 3-1 win over a City side who lacked any edge up front.

Whereas Arsenal had 11 goals in 8 games Emmanuel Adebayor and the clinical prowess, albeit with a hint of offside, from Eduardo, City struggled with youngster Daniel Sturridge having to hold the front on his own. Despite two goals in his last two appearances for the academy product, manager Sven Goran Eriksson admitted after the game he's still hopeful on Benjani's transfer from Portsmouth going ahead despite the transfer window slamming shut for this season - in what surely is the most bizarre January move with the Zimbabwean apparently missing two flights meaning he only arrived 45 minutes before the deadline for his medical.

I can't believe what your club are doing on this deal .... forgetting the timing and the fee for a minute you've got a poor bloke shacked up in an hotel and being told that Sven wants him and but the directors don't .... Sorry City fans your club looks very amateurish from the outside and is tarnishing the reputation of a good, hard working player... I hope for everybodies sake this is concluded tomorrow and Benjani becomes a City player.. you'd have got yourself a good 'un... maybe not the 20 a season stiker and answer to your prayers you expect but a hard working grafter who will give his all for your club.... he's loved down here as much as Walshy was ... and we all know he's considered a legend at both clubs... On the ball City .. but get this mess cleared up soon !

Okay Chix. Let's look at it from another angle. The fee and the timing are what this is all about and absolutely ignorable as they are directly linked to the need for a thorough medical. Say you are the Pompey chairman and the player you have agreed a fee on much earlier in the day mysteriously turns up 50 mins before the transfer deadline citing two missed planes and one cancelled. That in itself is cause for concern after our manager had travelled to London and back to obtain work permits the same day only for a player no show. Harry Redknapp has cited the reasons for the late arrival "as one thing or another." The player has remained silent on the matter until Pompey made it clear he is not wanted. See Redknapp's 29 yr old for 25 yr old comment. A previous transfer and agent involvement with Benjani have come under scrutiny and investigation. There are rumours of a knee problem that would not have shown up in a rushed medical. Had Benjabi arrived earlier in the day, the matter would surely have been resolved either way. In conclusion, if Manchester City look "very amateurish" then Portsmouth look decidedly dodgy in their dealings.

It still begs the question why did Benjani travel back to Portsmouth at 10.30 p.m the night before when he was due for a medical at Carrington (info for Chix MCFC training ground) the next morning ???????????

MUEN reports Mackintosh has driven the price down. Just under 4 million. There must be some truth in the knee knack rumours. Get him in for sunday then, Svennis.

The Times says that it is an inital 3.6 and then 1 million every 14 games. However mcfc.co.uk say no deal yet until they say so. The premier say we got the forms there on time, but I think we would have a case because of the delays that we have a case to renegotiate the contract. It not a couple of bob we are talking about here. I wonder who the 'Del Boy' is in this matter, because now it appears that Defoe is on LOAN, how did that change? Chix we are not the bad boys in this case, but if you are buying goods that don't come with the usual guarantee that they will still work after 12 months, you too would want a discount.

JB next time we have a poll on motm perhaps the choices should only include the top six players of the game so the result would be fair.

Sky are still going on about the Derby match Sunday and the fact that City fans will distrupt the minute silence. I do not doubt that we will respect that, but they appear to want to stir things up.
