Navasl looked good today, although I suspect that was down to Sherwood's tactic of marking Silva and Aguero out of the game and leaving Navas to get on with things.

Also thought Fernandinho had a good half game.

Nobody else really shone, although Mangala was quite calm and assured yet again.

Joe Hart needs a kick in the arse

Joe Hart needs to learn how to kick the bal to a team mate. Would love to see his distribution stats.

Gave it to Fernandinho - was in the right place at the right time to finish coolly

Yaya genuinely injured or another 'I Don't Want To Be Here' type mystery 'strain' like Nasri and Jovetic?

His distribution stats are awful but did you notice how much he improved when Bony came on? It was his decision making that I was worried about yesterday, he was coming out to punch when he had no chance, it cost us two goals and could've cost us another.

No one did enough for me to get a vote, very average performance across the board.

He did make somnepoor decisions. I noticed Bony win several headers (&find team mates - were you watching Edin?) and appreciate Hart kicks to the wings esp if Aguero ius on his own up front against towering Centre halves, but he launched more balls off the pitch yesterday than Kolarov and that's saying something.

This is no it a new issue. I recall when Sven was 'trialling' him and Schmeichal how the latter's kicking was more accurate. Troubling that Joe doesn't seem to have improved much in this aspect since then (2007-08).

Does drive me slightly crazy :doh!:

If Joe Hart wasn't English I suspect he wouldn't be our No. 1.

A very good keeper when he maintains his concentration, but too many errors of judgement to be a truly great keeper IMO.

Suspect part of the problem with him is complacency - he knows he's got the gloves as we've nobody who's really challenging him, and haven't really had since Given left

I think he's very good in general and there's not many around that would be an improvement on him. Those that are would be incredibly difficult to entice away from their current clubs and we'd have to pay a ridiculous fee for not all that much improvement.

BD has summed up the Hart situation. If we were going for perfection then we'd have to start spending big in a lot of areas and not just keeper. He's just about good enough and any improvement would cost us £20-25 million easy. Willie cost nearly £7 million and he's bobbins.

Went for Fernandhino. He made the difference.

Fern was excellent and Mangala is starting top put a few good games together. Fernando is rubbish. Thought Merlin put in a shift. Hats off to the villa fans who made a lot of noise.

If we switch off like that against the spuds they'll flog us.

Suspect that Hart will be looked back on as a very good goalkeeper but not one of the greats - not in the same class as Shilton, Clemence, Banks or even Corrigan. But certainly a cut above Phil Parkes, Jimmy Rimmer and Bob Green.

One thing that does concern me is that just as the greatness of a band can be defined by their drummer so great teams tend to have great goalies - the exception that possibly proves the rule being the Brasil side of 1970.

Trouble with Joe is he goes from fantastic now and then to pretty ordinary from time to time with good performances most of the time. It's annoying then to watch him make really silly mistakes when we all know what he is capable of.
Perhaps FCB has a good point in that he has nobody to challenge him.
