Beat the Clock 2015/2016 season

Vital MC Hall Of Fame
Football season is back. TFFT!

I really enjoy cricket, especially when the Poms give the Aussies the cricketing equivalent of a prostate examination. But football is better.

Watching the tennis at Wimbledon is highly entertaining. But football is better.

I've never really paid much attention to the oval ball game of either code - football is better.

Don't even get me started on the likes of Grands Prix, Golf (no matter how momentous the occasion), or even athletics. All of these have their place in the sporting pantheon, but don't do it for me. FOOTBALL IS BETTER.

Anyhow, welcome back to Beat The Clock, VMC's world famous football
prediction game, with questions being set by me, and all the hard graft like totting up done by Buzz Lightyear.

I'll start with a quick recap of how it all works.

Before every league game, I will ask VMC's finest to gaze into their crystal balls and give me the answer to a number of set questions:

1) Predict the attendance - ie, how many bums on seats will there be.

For away games stadium capacity will be given (according to Google)

Points are awarded on a sliding scale as follows:

5 points for having the best guess
3 for being the next nearest
1 point for third spot

In exceptional circumstances, the following points will be handed out:

20 points for a totally correct prediction (You jammy get!)
10 points for guessing within 10 of the correct figure

2) Predict the time of the first goal:

5 points for getting the time of the first goal absolutely correct, no matter who scores it

3 points for the next nearest guess(es)

3) Name the first goal scorer:

5 points will be awarded if your nominated player scores the first goal.

1 point will be awarded if your nominated player scores at any point in the game

if you think the opposing team will score first, or City won't score at all, please enter "No goal scorer" (NGS)

4 ) Predict the correct score line:

If you get the scoreline spot on, you get 5 points.

if your score is wrong, but you guess the correct result, you'll get 1 consolation point.

5) Bonus question:

From time to time I will be asking a bonus question(s). Subjects will vary, but they will all be based on officially measureable statistics.

Points for the bonus question will vary according to the difficulty of the question.

Here's to a great and successful season and HAPPY PREDICTING!

Copied from Skoorb's opening post v Baggies 2015/16 season

In this world where change seems to be the only constant we are bucking the trend here on VMC and sticking with the same rules as last season.

The rules:-

1) Name City's Starting XI - 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 5pts for getting it spot on.
2) Name City's 6 outfield subs - 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 4pts for getting them all.
3) Name the first player to come ON as a sub for City - 3pts for guessing the correct player.
4) Name them all - 5pts
