Silva the stand out.
My other votes have gone to Kompany and Mangala, thought they were superb.

Silva outstanding, Aguero led the line very much under pressure causing problems again and for me the underrated Kolarov, who although not the best full back in the PL but certainly tops as a wingback

Silva, Kolarov and Sterling for me.

How lucky are we to have David Silva? Could well surpass King Colin as the best City player ever.

Kolarov continues to go from strength to strength both defensively and offensively and his goal was as brilliant as it was unexpected.

Sterling adds an entirely new dimension to our play, and allows the likes of Silva and Navas to run riot. I remain confident that he will justify his price tag sooner rather than later.

Honourable mentions to Navas (the odd poor cross aside), Kompany, Mangala, Aguero and Sagna who all performed admirably. Only concern I have today was that Yaya looked a bit tired, which is a bit worrying so early in the season.

Merlin Mangala and VK. It may have been Jim Beglin co-commentator who said near the end of the game that he would pay to watch Merlin and Kun. They were simply outstanding.

Special mention to Sterling and his work in the first goal. Gave the first pass and the last.

9 game unbeaten run in the EPL - best for us since 1912. (apparently)

5th Silva is close to Colin Bell but if you ever saw him play, he was the complete footballer, he even went in goal, when we had only one sub in those days.

Silva would of course get in the all time city team along with the King.

Almost went for Mangala again as he played really well under pressure for his place. But, went for Silva.

Is he not already better than Colin Bell ? Great player Bell for us and England but I'm leaning towards Silva personally.

I've not seen The King play, only snippets from highlight reels but as Buzz has said and a way I've seen him described many times before is that he could play any position on the park and be our best player in that position. Same can't be said for the little magician, despite how utterly sublime he is.

This discussion about Bell and Merlin is a difficult one for me.
Different times, different conditions and equipment.....
Merlin is more skilful, but Bell had greater running power, stamina, a more powerful shot, scoring rate, and heading prowess.
I think he had the ability to become an Olympic champion if he'd been an athlete. This is from his testimonial programme....

'He slotted a gut-wrenching series of exercises between a couple of 2 mile cross-country slogs, and then got down to the real work'.
'On a tight schedule, Bell stormed through a pulverising series of 100, 220, and 440 yards sprints pushing the distance beyond 7 miles.....and then did the final quarter mile in 54 seconds'

We are just so lucky that both have graced our club.

Silva and Sterling for me. I must have said it 1000 times at this point, but when is Silva going to get his due on a global level? The European press can't stop kneeling before Messi and Ronaldo, but they've always been surrounded by World Class players. Silva has been the driving force on this team since he's been here, and he's made everyone around him better. Would be nice if he got a few votes for European Player of the Year.

It is a difficult one.

I suppose it's impossible to compare the two. No way Silva would have thrived on those cut-up pitches and with the meaty challenges he'd have been subjected to back in the 1960s and 1970s.

I do think though that he's becoming a Zola-type player now. His close control and magic wand-like distribution is remarkable. He's the best playmaker in the Premier League and one of the very best in Europe.

Then again, I recall Bell and his presence on the pitch. He was super-fit as you say Colin. Hence his nickname 'Nijinski' after the famous racehorse of that era.

What about Yaya for best City player of all-time anyone ?

Silva for me by a country mile and Kompany and Mangala secured the backline well.

Question. Has Silva ever been selected in the premiership team of the year. I dont think he has which is shameful considering how well he has played over the years for us.
