Das Daily Mail reports today how when asked if he regretted leaving City after our tremendous start he reacted with:

"Do I regret it? Not really. I have watched them on the TV – I might have been watching them sitting on the bench if I had stayed at the club."

This from a player who featured 45 times for City last season in our 51 games including 8 Champions League fixtures.

He didn't need to say that, even in jest.

Ex-players very rarely resist the temptation to wade in.

TBH, I think he's just deflecting attention from the fact that he's a greedy sod who wanted the signing on bonus the scousers offered him more than he wanted to carry on competing for his place at City.

We all know the "i didn't play enough at City" mantra is garbage, so good riddance to him.

James Milner is an ex-City player, let's leave it at that. Liverpool will soon find out that he's no replacement for Gerrard, and they won't admire him as much as we once did. But hey, he's got his money to comfort him

He would come out and say I made a mistake, that would really go down well with the Dippers fans, but he is a Liverpool player and this thread is in the wrong forum

He could have just said 'I've no regrets' and left it there.

I think it's in the right forum Buzz, it's City related.

I have had a look at him in the Liverpool side and he is their best player, which says a lot when he would almost every game sit his bum down on the Berti and i've moved it

Pandering to his audience and in the same vein as "Sterling is a great prospect until he plays for another team and so now he's sh*t".

His last chance of a big contract and the signing bonus was bound to be huge plus he gets to be a 'big cheese' whereas at City he was a lesser light. Having said that and re-read his comments it may actually be a compliment as you could see it as implying that City have moved up a gear this season and he is actually being realistic - I don't think many would have him as a first pick ahead of Navas or Sterling right now.

I think he only made the team last year because others were out of form especially Nasri and this season Navas has impressed and like Kolarov both may benefit from a good run in the side and the only way to stay there is to keep performing.

I think exJM7 saw the writing on the wall and as Skoorb says the last chance for a big pay day, but would never ever be the first pick in a team but would always be in the squad, whereas at liverpool he is good enough to name the team around him.
