If the rags lose, which will be worse? Losing to the Italian champs or the Dutch Champions?

So much for my predictions, mugged again by playing into their pace and plan. Only the first one so we can recover, but gee we make it very hard for ourselves.

Juventus are no mugs. Italian champions and last season's beaten CL finalists with bags of experience even without Tevez, Vidal and Pirlo. We were not playing a team from the ar*e end of Khazakstan.

These matches are defined by fine margins and we had some great chances - Bony, Sterling x 2 and silva on the follow up - but they took theirs and we didn't. I'm not totally buying the line being pedalled by the garbage BT Sport commentating team about moving the ball quickly - that was not the whole story. Missing Aguero, Silva not totally fit PLUS I think Juve did a great job in shutting him down and cutting off his supply. Mangala should have done better for the first goal - once the attacker can see your number you are in trouble.

There was such hype from the pundits that they seemed to fail to give credit to who we were playing.

Very disappointing nonetheless

Bony's was a shocker - to not even hit the target from there - he's normally so assured in front of goal.

I think we'll have a better crack at them in the return leg, as long as we aren't playing Palace the week before.... :-|

I think we need to concentrate on what we do, being the best we can and not simply attributing success to being happy that the rags are doing worse than us, even if their comparative failures do carry a sense of satisfaction.

Hope Shaw makes a full recovery, not good seeing injuries like that.

I am seething over the BBC website's rag bias. City are "beaten" but the rags "suffer defeat on a luckless night".

I too wish Shaw a speedy and full recovery. Don't like to see that happening to anyone. He is a young man with his whole life ahead of him and an exciting prospect for England.

Interesting choice of words. I am trying not to read too much into it but their use of "suffer defeat" vs "beaten" does seem to first with how I feel about the disappointing commentating in BT Sport also where the summarising by Steve McManaman was just awful. Wholly negative and not balanced at all. We were playing the Italian Champions, last year's CL finalists with experience all over the pitch especially in their defence and one of the world's top keepers. There is no doubt we did ourselves little credit and once again suffered a European sucker punch BUT I would just like there to be some acknowledgement that we were not playing a 'just scraped through the qualifying rounds' team.

The learning curve continues. It is **cking steep.

We'll be waiting for a while for that Skoorb. The media are jam packed with former United and Liverpool players who do their masters' bidding faithfully. City are target number 1 for them and they never miss an opportunity to poor mouth us and undermine our efforts to establish ourselves. As far as I'm concerned they can neg all they want, if they are doing it we must be doing something right. And as you correctly point out it is a steep learning curve but we will be the better for it.
