Well, after a period when the side was virtually picking itself we have injuries coupled with a sudden los of form and the added complication of a cup competition to contend with.......

Who said this managerial lark was easy?

The need for a morale boosting win at the start of a run of three away fixtures in just over a week may temper Pellegrini's inclinations to give some of the youngsters their chance. Sunderland may be rooted to the bottom of the league but they have seasoned professionals in their squad, some ex-City players who will feel that they still have something to prove and this diversion of the League Cup may offer them some respite from their trials in the Premier League. Add to that their defeat in the final by City in 2014 and there may be a few ingredients to add some more spice to the fixture.

Nasri may be back but Kompany is definitely out along with Mangala so expect Otamendi and Demichelis to have some time together. Fernando is apparently fit so will he get a run out to give Fernandinho a rest despite his excellent form. Aguero does not appear 100% fit so I would expect him to be warming the bench. Roberts or Navas? Sterling on the wing or up front with Bony? A start for Iheanacho?

Oh the agony of choice......

The rules:-

1) Name City's Starting XI - 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 5pts for getting it spot on.
2) Name City's 6 outfield subs - 1pt for each correct and a bonus of 4pts for getting them all.
3) Name the first player to come ON as a sub for City - 3pts for guessing the correct player.
4) Name them all - 5pts
