Rags vs Manchester City - 2.05pm GMT Sun 25th Oct - Barclays Premier League Match Day Thread

Not a lot of time today as I have a flight to catch - wish me luck as I shall have the pleasure of spending the derby weekend with my rag supporting brothers.

It is the rags - we know what we need to do. We need to beat this shower of sh*t and show the world just how thin the LVG 'revival' is.

Clearly hacks will be wanting the French Wonderkid Anthony TheBestThingSInceSlicedBread Martial to shine whilst gnashing their teeth at just what a good investment Kevin De Bruyne has been. Has anyone else detected more than just a taste of bitterness as the media types have had to shred their "City waste more millions" scripts after KDB's outstanding performances since he has pulled on a Sky Blue shirt?

I doubt that Silva will make an appearance despite Physioroom.com showing his return date as 25th Oct. Delph and Clichy are likewise shown available from Sunday but I would expect The Engineer to stick with the players that dragged themselves back into the Champions League group with a vengeance on Wednesday. Kolarov is likely to return probably at Zabaletta's expense - I think he was struggling for fitness and showing the effects of the hefty knock he collected in the first half against Seville (no coincidence in my books that they took the cane to clobber our right back and give Konoplyanka more room to operate).......but THE BIG QUESTION remains whether Vincent Kompany will be allowed off the Naughty Step he has been sat on since he turned out for Belgium during the International Break. Pellegrini clearly sending out a message in my book. We all know VK loves these games and so I would expect to see Otamendi step aside for this fixture.

Now if Bony were to grab a few goals this Sunday he would start to carve a niche out for himself in the City Fan's Mental Hall of Fame where special alcoves are reserved for players scoring derby winners even lesser lights such as Giovanni, Vassell and Benjani as well as the heroes of the past and those of the present - Sergio

Bring it on! :122:

COME ON CITY!! :yup:

I regret to inform you that Mark Clatter***k is to be in charge. Having said that, I don't think the rags are very fond of him either.

Yet we are bombarded with commentators telling us that we are all over the place. I would play Vinnie because he will get the lads up for the game, but who is the better CB?

Sagna just ahead of Zaba purely on match fitness and we need the quickness of Sagna to stop their wide men, left side may be the weakness and we need to win the midfield.

An early goal or three would settle the nerves, but we need to convert our chances, take these and win the game, miss too many and we may struggle.

Spot on Brutto. F1 and F2 behind Yaya with Kev on one side and Jesus on the other. This will be no place for the faint hearted so I'd start Bony over Sterling. VK must start to bark orders.

I feel sick already. LVG spouting that we are favourites. Id take a draw all day long.

....and talking about mind games, I see Van Ghoul has played the 'underdog' card and set the ba so that any result can be spun as exceeding already low expectations.

Don't think Manuel does mind games, he just says it like it is.

Did anyone ask the oblong headed one why all the bookies have the rags as favourites then? Fooling no one with this bolloxology, just like you're fooling no one with this happy with finishing third bolloxology either, with the money you've spent 'Arry Redknapp could win the league. Jesus I hate them.

The last time we did that away from home we were battered 4-1.

Would love to see Ian Nacho picked ahead of Wilf, but doubt it will happen.

He's sharper than Wilf , and more in tune with quick passing and running in to spaces, but it would be a big call, an would probably put Wilf on a downer.

And what about the rumour that El Mago may be fit after all ? What should the team be then?

They are doing well, or at least not doing too badly although as has been mentioned elsewhere they tend to look as though they're never that far away from making a mistake. Going into such an important match would MP leave Silva or Aguero on the berti if their replacements were 'doing well'? Probably . . .
