Manchester City vs Crystal Palace - Weds 7.45pm BST - Capital One Cup Match Day Thread

The matches come thick and fast for the top teams and no sooner has the dust settled on what appears to have been a less than memorable (apologies - I haven't yet seen the game) than Manuel Pellegrini's squad take on Pardew's Kickers :grr:

Frankly I am still hacked off at Scott Dann's deliberate and illegal high tackle on Sergio Aguero recently.

After shipping goals on a regular basis since Kompany's injury the defence was tightened at the weekend although some would point out that the whole back line was playing behind The Twins so it may not all have been down to Vincent's return. Aguero and Silva continue to recover and Pellegrini will be facing the increasingly modern problem of whether to field some of the younger members of the squad from the start of the game.

So there may be chances for Brandon Barker, Maffeo, Garcia & co to shine. He may still opt to give Bony a run up front as the guy really could do with the stability of a good set of consecutive games in the absence of our No 1 striker. Iheanacho should get a start I venture.

The more I type the more I think it going to be a real Pick 'N Mix so heaven help those of us who try our hand at Beat The Manager.

As for Palace. Well, Pardew gets under my skin & has done since his stupid antics last season not least his abuse of our manager and the actions of his defender who just knew he would get a strip torn off him by his manager if he allowed Aguero to get away. Not my favourite guy.

We won this two seasons ago as part of a largely forgotten (by the media) double - be nice to do it again.

Come on City!

I was thinking this, and would like to see it happen, but then I had a second thought.
If the likes of Dann is prepared to kick Aguero, is it more worthwhile to protect Nacho, or see what he is made of?

Yeah I see where you're coming from but tbh he's going to get that treatment against the majority of PL defenders, so he's going to have to get used to it.

Unless/until Bony recovers from the effects of Malaria we're going to have to start giving Kelechi some game time whether he's ready or not.

TBH, playing with the likes of Sterling DeBruyne and Yaya surely has to be every strikers dream, so even if he's a bit naive, he should still get chances handed to him by that trio

According to reports, Pellers will play a strong team. I have not seen the pressed so can't tell you what was said in that respect.

Chelsea Arse and Leicester joining West Ham and Spurs in the stands. MP might take this a bit more serious now. The fix should be in soon for an Manc v Manu/Liverpool final.

Good to see our next league opponents Norwich going to extra time this evening.

Should mean some tired legs by the time the second half rolls around

Wanted to see Ian Nacho at the weekend, but understood why he didn't start . But , much as I want to see him start , think Wilf needs the game time, he was better at the weekend than in earlier games , and recovering from Malaria and a long term injury is never going to be quick and easy.

Having said that, start Wilf , and then give Ian the second half complete.

Man City are in Capital One Cup action against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday with this a 7:45pm kick-off.

Winning the League Cup isn't the top of the City priorities this season, however it's something Manuel Pellegrini will be looking to happen once again but Crystal Palace will have other ideas tonight as a place in the Quarter Finals is at stake.

I think we'll go pretty strong tonight. £15 a ticket, so it's my second of the season tonight.

Seems unusual we have City and rags playing at home on the same night. Can't recall that happening before.

I'm happy that the police feel that both sets of fans will be respectful enough that we both play the same night at home.
