I know what you mean, when I saw the starting lineup my initial reaction was I get why he may feel Otamendi and Dinho needed resting but then when I considered the type of team that we were facing and it just seemed madness, particularly in Dinho's case.

You're right about those that did play should be playing better, was happy to see Yaya being hooked, Yaya's reaction will be interesting, hopefully it puts a rocket up his arse.

Sagna on whether he was ready to play:

"Mentally I was. Physically I believed I was, but I wasn't. I felt tired quite quickly. I didn't have as much power as I am used to.''

You cannot underestimate the relationship between mental and physical wellbeing - to be at the top of your game requires a focus that most of us can rarely achieve. A friend of mine who worked as a physio at a professional football club described it as imagining having to deliver a 3000 word essay at A+ standard every three days. Neither Sagna nor Mangala seemed to be in the zone so perhaps the toll of recent events really did manifest itself at the weekend. Zaba to start on Weds?

Although Hart made several superb saves to keep the eventual scoreline down, I did think in the early part of the game he maybe contributed to the very nervy state of the defence by his, in my view, unecessary trips outside his penalty area on a couple of occasions.

Got to hold up our hands and admit we were totally outplayed, and Liverpool deserved their win. The ease in which the defence was sliced open for the third in particular was embarrassing.

I did think one eye was on Wednesday, and although I would prefer to win the league above all others, how many times have we complained about our last 16 draw?
However, the pressure is on now to get a result in Turin, or, as Bluedub says, we will look naive. I also take the point about getting PSG as well, that would be UEFA's revenge with what has gone on recently!

Anyone think the Scousers are getting a little bit giddy? Have had mates who support the history club assuring me that they're going to win the title now, and that they are now officially the best team in the history of the entire Premier League.

Give it a rest you sad scouse tossers, yes you beat us, enjoy Thursday night and remember - titles aren't won or lost in November

Bound to happen fifth. They finally think they have cracked it under their latest messiah figure. After one result. Dream on.
