I've noticed every single game he plays his price tag is mentioned. I don't watch much La Liga but was wondering is the likes of Bale's or Suarez' price tag constantly mentioned during commentary?

But then again there are two current threads - one about Real being the wealthiest club around and another about our recent investment so we are guilty about being both excited and interested in wealth re footie clubs.

Money is ever present and mentioning how much our players cost is a sign of our wealth - you may not like it and I may not like it but City and spending money are pretty synonymous. Real have always spent it but then theirs is 'old' money - we are the nouvea riche kids on the block and it excites both commentators and newspaper editors to talk telephone numbers.

That is why I like referring to Sterling as £49m - but not Sagna as 'Freebie' - £49 million is an exciting number/amount and reminds me that we can pretty much go out and buy success if and when we need to.

It's this money obsession by the media and by extension the sheep...sorry I mean the fans that is killing the game though, as a fan of football I much prefer to talk about football than finances.
