Not the sort of thing 'Arry Rednapp would get involved in but increasingly a part of the modern game.

Interesting stuff.

Beautiful and mathematical: Football as a numbers game

Can a computer really predict who will win a match, there is always that unkown.

I was watching a news item about fully automated cars but for this to work, surely you cannot have just a few cars they would have to be all the same and surely things go wrong, manufacturers do not make things to last, it is not in their interest to do so.

Therefore in Football there are stats about players that are interesting , how far they run, are there passes accurate, but does it tell you if the passes have an effect on the game IE, did David Silva dissect the opposition with a pass to Sergio to allow him to score., of course not.

Why don't players who get fouled in the penalty area get an assist following a successful conversion?
