Sunday's incident was another classic example of how behind the times football is compared to other elite sport. It was an absolute classic - the game had been stopped (they could even actually stop the game clock) and it would have been reviewed very quickly with the CORRECT decision being arrived at. That is all I ask.

Is this a guess JB or do you have inside knowledge? The Premier League site still shows TBC...

The Premier League has appointed Martin Atkinson to take charge of Thursday evening’s Manchester derby.

This article expresses my thoughts pretty damn closely.

In a nutshell

I don't think I have ever as disillusioned as I did on Sunday afternoon. Time after time I have just rued our bad luck but that gnawing feeling in my gut grew into the worst case of indigestion ever experienced at the weekend

This season. It is wearing me down and I know I am not alone. Its not so much the failure to secure silverware, nor the fact that playing football that is designed to entertain has ultimately got us nowhere. It is more to do with how the game is run, the roles agents play, how the hacks operate, how matches are officiated and generally how fans are becoming a priced out afterthought. In short I am falling out of love with top flight football.

From the first time my old dad dragged me to the local rec to watch a game (to get me out from under the feet of my mum) I have been enthralled.
But same as you, Mr. B, I am growing more and more disillusioned day by day with the governance of the game which we all love so much. Driven by greed and self-interest it's losing it's soul.

Who could have imagined that a season under one of the best coaches in the world could feel more of a tiresome slog than some of our seasons struggling through playing some of the poorest football imaginable outside the top flight.......

It seemed more fun somehow, wasn't it Skoorb? Not sure why but it did to me.

To be honest, I get a much bigger kick out of watching my kids play with their local teams. Football is now one of the biggest industries on the planet. Wasn't it our new owners who said that they didn't see their competitors as Manchester United or Chelsea, but Pixar and Disney?

Where there is lots of money there is lots of corruption, and football is rife with it. I really and truely believe there has been an agenda against us for the past few years - and a similarly corrupt promotion of certain teams. I've just about had enough, and am losing interest.

Unfortunately, though, I don't see how I can stop being a City supporter!

I've had a weird feeling since the turn of the year about me and my love for football. I couldn't put my finger on it but the unusual sense was bugging me. Now I know what it is and I didn't know it until I read the above post from JB.

I have fallen out of love with football, based on JB's reasons. I hope I can shake this feeling off by the time the new season begins or VMC might be looking for a new ed.

It has been disheartening and discouraging at times. The joy and excitement has been drained out of the game recently by the constant media hunt for any stick to beat our coach with and compounded by the inexplicable number of 'mistakes' from officials this season. I can take being the object of jealousy (recently discussed why a friend - a supporter of Oxford United - disliked City so much and the reply was pretty incoherent but ultimately came down to "you won the lottery and we didn't") but the persistent nature of the crassly wrong decisions which we have been on the end of has been a major reason for disillusionment. Sunday's disallowed goal and yet another penalty not given were my 'brick wall' - when even Mrs Skoorb agrees that we were hard done by and that I am not paranoid then that says something.

But I am not giving in to this reletlesss tide of hate, bitterness and institutional bias. City is in the DNA and cannot be erased.

In the words of Captain Jason Nesmith......

"Never give up. Never surrender."
