He's now been removed from the game.

The decision to appoint Cann has been canned.

Do you know why he has been removed? Did someome remind the PGMOL of his background do you think?

Not 100% sure but I do know City fans were tweeting the FA about it last night.

Apparently, it was an FA "administrative error" and not the first time involving Dazza.
Lessons have been learned, it won't happen again, blah blah.

And then the FA have charged us for administrative errors.

Indeed, BD. Double standards. It's great when you're answerable to no-one, isn't it.
Going back to DC, it also begs the question why didn't the man himself point out he shouldn't be officiating...unless....

It may well be that Cann himself said to the FA ......"Errr, not sure I should be handling this one guys...." but given that you could create a conditionally formatted spreadsheet within minutes in which you could record declared connections between officials and clubs and which would immediately flag up conflicts...........

Well, it smacks of total incompetence that it should ever have occurred in the first place.

Back to the Handicapping Drawing Board chaps. You'll have to find a different way. Just get one of them to make a glaring error during the game which cannot be rectified subsequently but which materially affects the outcome and where there is no sanction for the officials or even the player who as much admitted post match that he committed deliberate obstruction. Oh for video reviews.

Just caught the tail end of a Talkshite conversation between Hawkesby and Jacobs and one of them said Cann DID declare to the powers that be that he shouldn't be doing the game. So fair play, if that's true.

It seems they all read the memo 'The Agenda' I am sure he has missed one where SA10 was booked for a dive.

Whatever ref is appointed you can bet your bottom dollar that we will be denied a stonewall penalty, Chelsea will be awarded one when a player dives outside the box, at least one, maybe two of our players will be sent off probably after the Chelski has fouled down one of our players.

It's not fair.

And following the game we will be deducted 10 points (to be applied from the start of next season) when it is discovered that there wasn't a vegetarian option on the officials post match meal menu.

Wouldn't it be great if a City firm made the match balls, then we could take it home and refuse to play until we are given a level playing field to play on.

Like football, love City, hate the other stuff.

Sorry, I'm with BD on this one - good find btw.

He missed another one off the list of indictments - the fact that Marriner was looking at the Ag├╝ero-Reid incident at the Etihad from around ten yards, took no action at the time only to then state in his match report that he hadn't seen the incident. This allowed the door to be opened for the FA to retrospectively review the incident and issue their first three match ban against Sergio. Unbelievable Jeff.

The frequency of these non-decisions is just remarkable and is hard to explain so actually, no I am not sorry at all in agreeing with the point BD and the writer makes despite the sarcasm.

I agree Skoorb an excellent find by BD, and all I want is the right decision, I don't want to argue with people about a decision which altered the game.

In cricket you get the right decision 99% of the time because in some cases you can't tell even with the technology available, but in football e.g. The Latest claim, it was obvious from replays that Monreal had handled and if that had been a subject on appeal by technology there would not be a bad mark against the ref as he may not have seen it, it also cleans up the game no shirt tugging in the area because the camera will find you out and players like Young would gave still be serving suspension for all his antics.

Exactly. The usual mantra is about it being "all about opinions" which is a load of old tripe - it is about the correct decision being made and when they get it wrong or bottle it (Taylor; Marriner - I actually saw home say "not for me" when clearly the decision was uestioned by a City player) it is valid to comment on the matter.

Colin Is The King - 22/11/2016 15:47

Marriner is the referee appointed to Burnley-City this Saturday.

For the third time already this season, I'd say he's probably as sick of the sight of us as we are of him but then he seems to have problems with his sight so he's probably nonplussed.

I was nonplussed at school a couple of times...ended up with a couple of minuses. sorry about that, going for my coat.

Amazing that the rags have had 19 goals incorrectly awarded to them this season. Even allowing for really close offside decisions that is a lot.

Maybe there is a conspiracy theory in place to ensure that the rags get all the help they can - in which case it should apply not just to us but to all the teams competing with them for a top four finish. Unless it is just to make sure they finish above us and have bragging rights in Manchester City centre over the summer.

Who knows...

We can do everyone a favour by battering Chelsea this evening.

Its not that Kenny we have got away with a few too, but my point is we all want the right result even if it goes against us.

No-one in cricket says to the umpire what a nob you got it wrong, he like all refs and umpires get one view. In rugby the refs say lets have a look and VTR helps out.

Slightly off topic why in Champions League games does the assistant referee who stands behind the goal line stand on the same side as the sideline Ref Ass? surely he should stand the other side of the posts.
