Christmas 2016 at Vital Manchester City
01 December 2016 08:54 Post ID: #588463
Its the first day of December and I was wondering when you guys put up your Christmas decorations?

Our neighbour three doors down put their Xmas tree up 3 weeks ago (I kid you not).

I expect ours will go up next weekend.

Usually around the same time, but from the first of December we get out the Christmas Cups and saucers (Mrs B, her ladyship would not be seen drinking out of a mug) and my mugs and the Christmas songs get played, we can watch Christmas films.

Do we have any ebeneezers amongst us.

Whats your favourite Christmas film?

anyone have a recipe for sprouts? (I love them but I am the only one lol)

Funnily enough Mrs T and I watched our first crimbo film of the season last night. Its brand new but very adult themed called "The Night Before". Its ok but I wouldn't watch it again.

Whats your favourite Christmas film?

I have loads and so i'll add another thread just on this subject.

Love them as well Buzz. Top tip, don't criss-cross then with a knife at the stem otherwise they will go soggy as hell. Another way to cook them is to remove the flowers and then lightly fry them off with chopped bacon and finely chopped onions. Takes around 8 minutes to cook and when finished they are lush.

No to the decorations. Always used to wait until after our eldest's birthday on the 18th. It always seemed to be a good time and kept the lid on the excitement.

We do start gradually building up and I expect the Christmas placemats, mugs and Christmas themed soft toys (go figure) will emerge this weekend.

Will probably start playing my favourite Christmas album ever - Winter Magic by Hayley Westenra. Voice of an angel. Highly recommend it.

Christmas film - will await the other thread

No recipe for sprout but have a great one for parsnips. I generally can't abide them but this recipe is delicious and I can't get enough of them with a roast dinner . Let me know if details are wanted.

My fault Skoorb. When I said I would add my favourite Xmas movies on a separate thread I meant to say, this one but in a different post Sorry. I'll add our favourites later.

Christmas is on the back burner in my gaf for the moment, the missus gave birth to our second son last Sunday so we'll get him settled in over the next couple of weeks and start thinking about the chrimbo then.

My heartfelt congratulations to you and Mrs BD, I hope both mother and baby are well and that proud Dad is over the blue moon, but please refrain from naming him Yaya, because kids can be very cruel when he gets to his first school.

My best wishes to all and hope you have a super Christmas.

Good on your wife Bluey for managing nine months with discomfort and such and for presenting you with another wee Bluey.
Best wishes to both of you.
As for the sprouts, like them any which way but prefer with the bacon pieces and a dab of butter.
In the summer I love them raw, yes I know, have never heard of anyone else liking them raw but they are lovely once you develop the taste.
Rising, try chopping one up into a salad and see how you go. At least you won't get the runs.
