The January window has slammed shut and there's not much gossip around as we get into the serious part of the season.
But the specubollox for the summer will soon be in full flow and we can await with interest what will undoubtedly be an exciting summer of business.

We can cross Toni Kroos off the shopping list (if, indeed, he was ever on it). He has signed an extension to his Real Madrid contract.

There's a lot of chatter about Bellerin. Great player but you'd have to question what it would mean for Maffeo if we were to sign him.

That's the conundrum. Would much prefer to promote from within.
Rock. Hard place.

I guess we could always sign Belleriin, get rid of our two veterans and have Hector and Pablo vying for the right back berth.

Cant see the gooners letting us have Bellerin. I guess if he was to leave Spain would be their preferred option. $50m ask- for effs sake!

There's no value in the market theses days...unless you're paying £100m to bring back a player you let go

If indeed we were really after Bellerin it would only be a matter of how much Arsenal would take for him because money is all they think of at that club.

I think the talk about Bellerin is just Media talk because if City had actually come out with a quote that they were after him without Arsenal being aware, then I would think it would be tapping up.

It is obvious to everyone that our first team defenders are coming to the end of their careers at the top level and we are or should be in the market to replace one or two and as the thread suggests it is specubollux.

We have seen this approach by clubs such as The Rags and RM where they unsettle a player they want, but it will be seen if City make an official approach to the Gooners.

I think the days of 'tapping up' in this way are largely gone. Approaches are made via the player's agent long before we/anyone makes an approach to the club. It makes sense - why approach a club about a player who isn't interested in coming to us? Once we know they're interested, then we can start negotiating an exit with the club

I would like to see young Pablo have a spell at RB, not sure the Arsenal chappie is that great and 50M, WTF!!!! He is not worth that.

I suppose for a proven PL player who is only 21, it may be worth the gamble. It's a bit like Sterling and Stones. At their ages, we're potentially buying 10 years worth of performances

I see that the MUEN says that 7 players are being shown the door next Summer and only F25 has been offered a new contract.

The comments make interesting reading and I have to agree with many of them - a bit early for the muen to be starting this freaking nonsense.

It's nothing we don't know about though, or to be honest, didn't expect Shirley? It's effectively 7 players who are out of contract next summer, who we probably don't intend to keep. As for the timing - when do we discuss this? We've moaned in the past about players (we wanted to keep) being allowed to go into the last year of their contracts with no word of new deals being discussed. Now we don't want it mentioned because they're potentially players we don't want to keep
