Manchester United are confident they will sign Tottenham's England defender Danny Rose, 27, for £50 million either in January or next summer. (Daily Mail) - whatever will the hacks say £50M for a fullback!!!!!!

No full back should be worth more than £10 - £15m at most. They are destructive players and apart from Phil Neal and Junior has anyone ever paid hard earned cash to watch a full back plying their lonely furrow to the halfway line and back?

Exactly.

Except for Dani Alves. He cost a British transfer record amount (at the time) when he moved from Sevilla to Barcelona and Justified it in his time there.

Good player.

Could also add Carlos Alberto, Marinho (F) and of course the great Paolo Maldini.

And who could forget Terry Phelans waltz through a disinterested Spuds defence to score a second consolation goal in the FA Cup back in the days of paying £2.5m for Womble defenders. Few results have left me feeling more drained than that one. Inconsolable so I was.

Still up there with one of my all time favourite City goals, wasn't there a pitch invasion after that goal which led to the game being abandoned? or is my memory playing tricks?

No, there was indeed an invasion. Funny. I can remember exactly where I was for that game just as I can for the 3-4 second half recovery against Spurs under Keegan. Odd that it should be for games against Spurs.

I was in a bar in King's Cross, Sydney at some ungodly hour watching the 4-3, best comeback ever, the session carried on right into the small hours of the next morning. Gone are the days.

Sadly the 2-4 result stood.

Although this result did go some way towards making up for it. Really enjoyed the Keegan season in the old Div 1, scored for fun, not like now with all these games winning by the odd goal in three...

I'll put it this way Ozi, I was in the doghouse for nearly a week when the celebrations ended.

Any news on VK4's latest injury?

Any chance a defender rather than Sanchez might be a New Year priority?

Pep on signing a defender on January: "We are thinking about it. I’m honest. In that department, we have few players. Maybe we are looking for another central defender due to the problems with Vincent." @City_Watch

Pep looking to replace Vinnie, but needs a player not just for the rest of the season but one that will be here for years.

Virgil at Saints, I wanted him initially but with his preference for Liverpool I am not sure if he came he would be wanting away to Merseyside, in order to win more trophies there,... Well that is what Milner said, so it must be true.
