I am so glad that we have not shelled out £75 million for a player that did not want to play for us, so JFE it is then.

Just seen a report where they are asking £70m for Virgil, no fecking way. please City do not spend this much money on someone who wants to go to Liverpool.

"Delighted and honoured to have agreed to become a Liverpool FC player. Today is a proud day for me and my family as I join one of the biggest clubs in world football. " He was never coming to us because he would not be a first choice, why because he aint that good.

Interesting to see how it works out, he's never been tested playing a high line week in week out against quality opposition. He's had the luxury of a midfield that protects him at the Saints, he won't have that at Liverpool.

very good points BD, it just did not fit right that we were being touted as being in the market for him as he had made his feeling know before hand and Pep would not have wanted this sort of player for that sort of money.

He obviously wont be joining Milner of the bench as Liverpool need him more that we do, but is he that good?

Gary Neville says the £75m fee paid by Liverpool for Virgil van Dijk is "incredible", but will prove a good deal if he helps his new club win trophies.

Remember the Hoohah at Kyle Walker's fee £25m less

We'll know more when we play them in a couple of games time but from what I've seen in the past, he was pretty average but he has been off the boil for a long time since he's been angling for his dippers move.

I nearly pooed my pants for a moment when I read the headline on Newsnow Manchester City,
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has held talks about signing Man City ace Kevin De Bruyne.
https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/897382/Real-Madrid-Zinedine...

An absolute blatant attempt by the Daily Express to unsettle the player you is about to sign a new contract.

What the headline does not say is the talks or alleged talks were between Zidane and Real Madrid Club president. WTF is going on???????

It's Phil Space, especially at this time of year as we approach the window. Probably the biggest load of bollox you will read over the next four weeks.

I saw another where Sergio is desperate to sign for Really Shit, but only on condition that they give us their goalie Navas it was too funny to even consider, when I think Claudio is quite happy on the money and given his age, is quite content to pick up the odd title.

Geez we really are in the mini-silly season.

The Zidane headline is scandalous journalism and pure click-bait. There are many people who would have held meetings in pubs discussing what a good signing KDB would be for their club but report this in a way which implies that this is a genuine transfer story.

The Daily Express is an utter piece of garbage and I wouldn’t even wipe my bottom on it if the only other alternative were stinging nettles

Oh I recall that very well.

What I don’t remember is any comments of a similar nature being made about him signing for City. Then they were just outraged that anyone would spend that on a full back.

Even in what is possibly an unreal time for transfer fees this seems like an awful lot - have Liverpool been forced to pay a premium simply because they are a massive club? Perhaps they'd have got him for less if he hadn't kept going on about how he wanted to only move to Liverpool?

So the self acclaimed best player in history wont's to go according to the dailyrecord. Should we be interested? Hope not.
