The advantages with Evans are that he wouldn't need tinge to adapt to the PL, not cup tied in Europe, is experienced and is a WINNER from his days at the swamp.

Plus if he is a *ed it would be torture for him...

And he is at an age where he wouldn't block Tosin's path to first XI glory - or a spell on loan at Oldham followed by a Summer move to Leeds.

Aymeric Laporte will be coming in as a first choice CB. He has 5 years top flight experience at a young age and I hope he does very well for us.

Hold on to your hats, this has all the hallmarks of being one of those close to the wire transfers....

Reports emerging that Laporte will not play against Eibar this evening and that a medical may take place on Monday......

Watch this space.

Cutting it close on Monday, but it is a good sign that he is not in the squad, It was reported on Sky last night that the personal terms were almost there with some little things to be ironed out, whatever that means.

This could rank as the most stupid question ever asked on this forum, but as it's me who's asking, hopefully I get dispensation.
Since the back four, consisting of two centre-backs and a left and a right-back, all play within a few yards of each other, why can't they do each other's jobs? I appreciate the left and right-backs might have a favoured foot, but what about the middle two?

Positional sense would probably be the biggest obstacle for full backs trying to play at centre back, there's also aerial ability.

As for centre backs playing at full back, modern day full backs have arguably the toughest job on the pitch in terms of stamina. Centre backs wouldn't be conditioned for this role. Again positional sense would also be a factor.

There is a fair bit of crossover though, Stones for example played games at right back for Everton, Danilo has played as a centre back in a back three for us.

They could all play each others positions I'm sure but whether it can be done to the levels required is another matter.
