I'll be in Manchester on Tuesday week for the Monaco game. My siblings bought the trip for me as a birthday present.

I'll be landing in Manchester at 7.30am so will probably be at the Arndale for brekkie at around 9. I'll then have a whole day to kill before heading to the Etihad.

I'm travelling with my Dad so was thinking that maybe we could visit a museum to waste away a few hours, I've already done the National Football Museum so was wondering could anyone recommend another museum that's easily accessible and worth a visit?

The Whitworth, btw its Lowry.

You could visit Altrincham Footie club where Tony Taylor allegedly supports and see Paddy Crerands pub next door.

You can stand on the Manchester boundary and looking away from Manchester and see Old Toilet, wanting to be in Manchester and not quite making it by at least a mile.

You can walk around the City ground and say to yourself, Buzz worked here many years ago for many happy years

I think there is something for everyone, especially as we have an Irish connection with Dunney and Shay Given

Manchester art gallery on Mosley Street, the central library in St Peters Square, John Rylands library on Deansgate.
There's a transport museum in Cheetham (Boyle Street, get a 135 bus there), and, I'm sure there's an Irish social club next door or close to it - although it's been a while since I've been in the area.

I got the above from a cracking book I got a couple of years ago, 'My guide to Manchester, the complete guide'.

Long time since I roamed around the sunny streets of Manchester but I always liked having a look around the old City Hall Bluey.
Hope you enjoy your break with your Old Man.
Keep away from Yeats Wine Centres, if they are still there
