A bit of self indulgence.

So, what is it to you ?

Born and raised in Fallowfield, most of the family lived on Hart Rd.

Well , her father was a steward at Maine Rd in the 30’s so knew the players , particularly Frank Swift, and he was often a visitor to the family home .

After the war, and in to the 50’s , the Don, he of the “Revie plan” lodged with my Great Aunt , just off Wilbraham Rd , she didn’t like him , so obviously a good judge of character.

In the late 50’s , she became “very” friendly with a young City player called Bill Bootle, he never really made it, but is still a friend of the family.

Moving on, she became part of the in crowd with Busby and co, which later went on to going out with Busby and Mercer and wives , with my father.

She is 87 years old , and suffering from Alzheimers in a care home .

Whenever I get back to the UK , the first question she asks, is not how I am , but what was the result !

Is it any wonder I am Blue ?

Really nice story Seac

Alzheimers - I know a little as my father suffered from it for a couple of years until it finally got him, aged 86. He was a professional footballer, playing for Blackburn Rovers for years. He took me to Maine Rd back in the day and he tried his hardest to convert me to becoming a Rovers fan but as hard as he tried it never worked. His football photo albums are amazing.

Happy Birthday Mother Seac. I'm just about to crack open a bottle of red, so I'll raise a glass to her.
Cheers!
