Should the away goals rule be scrapped?

Would it be better to go to penalties after extra time should the tie be level? Would this encourage a return to negative football?

Discuss........

No I would rather lose on the away goals rule than go to penalties, I think as you suggest there would be those clubs who would defend for 90 mins but win on penalties.

I hate penalties even though we have been on the end of winning a few of them, I would rather see a count back, like how many corners or fouls (that resulted in cards), which would encourage attacking and deter players from blatant fouls, but this would only be brought in if there was vtr

Good points, Buzz.
The only beef I have with the away goals rule is that quite often, you know from the first leg what the outcome will be for the second leg and it takes away the excitement.

But if a team successfully defends for 90/120 minutes it'll be 0-0, so would still go to penalties
