A statement from City:

“We note the public comments made by Mr. Tebas today and earlier this week.

“Uefa’s statement of the 4th of September is clear and based on accurate information.

“By contrast, Mr. Tebas’ statements are ill-informed and in parts pure fiction.

“As you would expect, Manchester City Football Club and the City Football Group are seeking appropriate legal counsel and will act accordingly on that advice.”

Take that you petulant children! Barca thinks everyone should only do what benefits Barca. What a disgrace, first trying to sue Neymar, and now trying to slander us. FAIL

Less well reported are the casual racism implicit in his language....

"Manchester City with all this oil [money] will take all these players and we need to protect ourselves."

He needs to be taken to task by UEFA (if not by City's legal team) but I seriously doubt they will do anything

for years now the price of a player for Manchester City has been quoted a lot higher than those for other Clubs, It's not our Club that inflates prices but the selling Club through sheer greed

LFP have released a statement backing PSG:

"The LFP strongly condemns the insulting remarks made today by the president of La Liga, M. Javier Tebas, concerning PSG.

"These remarks are unworthy of an institution as respectable and efficient as the Spanish League.

"The LFP notes that only UEFA is empowered to rule of the compliance of PSG with regards FFP rules.

"The LFP reaffirms its support for PSG in the face of a campaign of denigration that has been going on for several weeks by some major European sides.

"At the beginning of the season, the LFP welcomes the attractiveness of Ligue 1 Conforama. The activity of the French clubs, and especially that of PSG, as helped to improve the attractiveness of Ligue 1 Conforama. Thanks to these investments, Ligue 1 Conforama has had a very good start, marked by an increase in the number of goals, as well as a clear increase in TV audiences and attendances at stadiums."

They never talk about net spending in their narrative.

The price gouging that has emerged has never been denounced by any of the authorities - the willingness of clubs to add a 'City premium' onto the acknowledged market value of a player is seen as 'fair game' or 'good business'.

The hypocrisy of Tebas after the behaviour of Barcelona (& Real Madrid with their Galacticos policy) in the transfer market is breathtaking
