Outrageous footwork from Maffeo gets him a way from three city players and bursting into the city box but he isn't tracked by Sané who stayed down for a while

Jesus looked to have been pulled over in the penalty area but Bernardo takes the ball on anyway and his shot is saved

Game over

Main result - no one was injured for City

Not sure we have learned too much but will think on the game and put up some thoughts later

No-one was injured that we know of.
I just hope there were no knocks or strains we hear of later.

Well like you Skoorb, not an awful lot to be learned from that however I shall try.

1. Tosin grew into the game and ended it with confidence
2. Maffeo could well turn out to be a decent full-Pep style- back
3. Gundogan is back and way short of match fitness
4. Sané showed his class and why Girona maybe in trouble when they meet someone for real.
5. I don't think some of the Girona players thought this was a friendly
6. Mangala is good enough to keep rather than spending £50m on a player that may sit on the bench
7. It was a game to get the bench warmers match fit.
8. Jesus goes down too easily

There was indeed and not all friendly for what they think is a sister club.

Forgot to say Roberts was conspicuously absent.

On top of Buzz's comments I would add: -

1. Otamendi showed some excellent touches as well as a confidence and composure that has not always been evident;
2. Diaz and Foden will have learnt a little more about playing with the 'big boys'. They struggled to get a foothold and much of the first half passed them by but they upped thei effort in the second and were more involved. a good learning experience for them;
3. The Girona players clearly had more 'skin in the game' given that this was their final match before they take on Atletico at the weekend. They clearly were intent on showing their manager they deserved a place in the starting XI and were not shy in putting their foot in when it wasn't strictly necessary in a non-competitive game.
4. Glad we seemed to escape without any injuries to those who participated but i think there will be a few bruises;
5. Pleased Kun and David Silva were not risked given the 'edge' that Girona had to their approach.
6. Good that Bernardo got a full 90+ minutes - more to come from him I think

How does this 'sister' club thing work - would we be happy being a 'sister' club to an older sibling or would it descend into rivalry, any opportunity to get one over on 'big sis'. What do other clubs, Melbourne etc and their fans feel about being part of the 'City Football Group' bearing in mind how much a clubs identity means - and when a proportion of your players come from the 'parent' club so they're just there for the experience (a more structured set up for loanees) and how might a clubs fans feel about that?

I'm only thinking these thoughts in light of the comments about this game not seeming overly friendly - but maybe the loanees were simply trying to make a point to Pep?

I also read today (not in a red top or the Mail/Express) that if both ourselves and Girona qualify for Europe next season then we would take preference whilst they would sit it out.

Still good that there appear to be no injuries in advance of next Mondays clash with Wazza.
