However this news is less welcome......

City will face the away leg against Shaktar Donetsk in the week preceding the Manchester derby. That's a 3,500+ mile round trip. The derby may well be moved to the Sunday (10th) for tv but even so the rags will have played at home that week so UEFA have managed to shaft us with this scheduling.

The full fixture list....

The schedule is as follows…

Feyenoord vs. City: Wednesday 13 September

City vs. Shakhtar Donetsk: Tuesday 26 September

City vs. Napoli: Tuesday 17 October

Napoli vs. City: Wednesday 1 November

City v Feyenoord: Tuesday 21 November

Shakhtar Donetsk vs. City: Wednesday 6 December

Superb. Deepest Ukraine in December. Anyone planning on going to the way leg better pack their thermals.

In Kharkiv, the month of December is characterized by falling daily high temperatures, with daily highs decreasing by 3°C, from 1°C to -2°C over the course of the month, and rarely exceeding 7°C or dropping below -10°C.

Daily low temperatures decrease by 3°C, from -4°C to -7°C, rarely falling below -16°C or exceeding 3°C.

Away in Ukraine the week of the derby. I knew there had to be a sting in the tail.

Yes. Classic shafting.

I always thought that the top seeded sides (from pots one and two) played each other in back to back fixtures I.e. the last fixture of the first set of games and the first fixture of the second set. Like in our group.

It might not be so bad - we've got the chance and the motivation to put this group to bed by the time we travel to the Ukraine. Any players who don't fancy running round in the cold, you know what you have to do.

Maybe by that time we have a place in the knockout and can play the lads
