I can't do quizzes without resorting to googling, which is cheating, but thankyou for taking the trouble to do it.

Digressing, I love all blue only because we were playing in it when Serge scored.

Editorial correction

4a should have read "left leg" and not "leg leg"

Re-old badge/new badge........I was referring to any badge in the club's history

To allow everyone to focus on the game I shall postpone publishing answers until Wednesday (am out all day tomorrow) - will give others time to have a go should they wish to do so

Sorry - no, should have made it clearer - since the formation of Manchester City F.C.

Morning peeps! As promised, after a lovely day out visiting soon to graduate middle-Scoorb son and a trip to Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, here are the answers to the Quick Fire Too Much Time On My Hands Impromptu Home Kit Quiz.

I hope it helped stimulate the grey matter and well done for all who had a go. Kudos for not looking up all the answers ). Excellent work from Buzz for using 'old technology' i.e. physically looking up old programmes, great work from Colin as always & super to know that likes men in Sky Blue shorts ;-)

1. In which season did the club badge first appear on the shirt?

1971-72

2. Which company were City's first ever shirt sponsor & which in season did this sponsorship first appear on the Home shirt? (2 VMC Knowledge Points*)

Saab

1982-83

3. In which season was the club badge first used on the shorts?

1981-82

4. The current kit has the club badge on the right leg of the shorts.

a) Has the badge ever been shown on the leg leg of the shorts?

No - only ever appeared on the right leg of the shorts.

b) During which two two seasons the club badge was replaced with the letters 'MCFC'. Which seasons?

2001-2 & 2002-03 - Le Coq Sportif were the kit manufacturers then.

5. During how many seasons in total has the club badge been featured in the centre of the shirt?

7 seasons - 1971-72; 1972-74 (2); 1999-2001 (2); 2007-09 (2) {also worn on the special shirt worn to commemorate the Munich Air Disaster}

Some would favour a return to this location I think.

6. In which season was the 'Soundwave' shirt worn by the players?

2011-12 - the title winning season & iconic for that reason. A perfect example of why Umbro 'got' City far more than the corporate world of Nike. The design depicted the soundwave graphic created when the fans sing 'Blue Moon'.

7. For how many seasons have City worn a Sky blue kit with matching Sky Blue shorts ?

16 seasons - 1976-85 (12); 2006-07; 2011-12; 2014-15; 2016-17

8. In which season was maroon first featured in the Home kit socks?

Actually 1962 63 - I too always associated first use with the title winning season of 1967-68

9. When City adopted the "Lazer Blue" kits for the 1997-98 season who was the kit manufacturer?

Kappa - a change in style and brought in when the club badge was changed to the 'Superbia in Proelia' version. A bold statement and an attempt to get away from the past. Clearly it didn't work initially as we were relegated that season but perhaps the seeds were sown even then of the need to change the mentality at the club?

10. Since the formation of Manchester City F.C. the club's home kit has featured white sleeves only once. In which season did this take place & which company manufactured this kit? (2 VMC Knowledge Points)

a) 2006-07. I never realise this. Not my favourite kit but always has a fond place in my heart as it was the one I first wore when playing at a Football Aid match at the then City of Manchester stadium. Walking out onto the pitch to play football wearing the colours of the club I had followed for 40 years (at that time) is forever etched in my mind as one of the proudest days of my life.

b) Reebok

Unfortunately due to an administrative error the VMC Knowledge Points scheme has been scrapped. Any points earned during this quiz cannot be transferred to the New Much-Improved VMC points scheme which we have yet to make up......sorry, create.

P.S. One of the photos below was taken at the City of Manchester stadium (as was) and one at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Can you spot which is which?
