No matter how many ways they try to spin it, Dean is laughable as a ref. Inconsistent in his decisions, and inserting himself into controversies, when a top flight offical should be consistent and anonymous.

Officials should be like bass players - you don't see them but by golly you know it if they're not there.

Just now getting the chance to look at Mousset challenge on Otter. Looks to me like he kicks Otter with his right and then plays the ball with his left

Look at the challenge on our right side just moments before, savage.

Lets face it, it is not just Dean although he did make some really bad calls. It is EPL reffing in general. They have become the laughing stock of the world game and it is time they were answerable instead of being untouchable. The best answer is to have the refs subject to retrospective reviews as the players are and then subject them to a three match ban ...... ooops then there would be nobody able to ref a game after the first week................

Dean is card happy and very inconsistent. He is just not up to standard as a top class ref IMO.

They have standards?

I saw that. Arter on Sterling. Knee high. Dangerous. I actually think Dean carded him for it after he stopped play for the Mousset foul. Should have been red - clearly endangered his opponent. But as we saw with the failure to deal with Cook after he clattered Jesus (excessive force; endangered his opponent) Dean seems to have a different standard.

Nice to see you Doody, keep in touch if you can.

I agree about the Refs they should be accountable, but video refs would be a boost and some rules should not be set in stone, merely a guide-line

Most of the problems we have with refs are down to their implementations of 'guidelines'

And there I was thinking it was a lack of guide dogs.

I wouldn't normally bother resurrecting this so long after the event but.......

I switched on Sky Sports this morning and stumbled right into highlights from last season's Bournemouth v Liverpool match......

4th December 2016

Other than being my sainted Mother's birthday this was the day that Bournemouth came back to win 4-3 at home against the dippers. Trailing 1-3 Eddie Howe's side levelled the score in the 78th minute and then in added time Nathan Ake netted the winner after Karius fumbled a shot from Cook.......

Cue wild celebrations from the players and the fans going wild.

What does Ake do?

He runs straight to the corner of the the ground where he celebrates with the crowd and his team mates. No one appears to come onto the pitch side but that isn't necessarily the point - the definition of the offence according to Law 12 Fouls and Misconduct is this -

"A player must be cautioned for:

climbing onto a perimeter fence and/or approaching the spectators in a manner which can cause safety and/or security issues"

http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/fo...

Ake scored in the 2nd minute of added time - a last ditch winner. Same as Sterling.

Understandably he, his team and the home fans were elated. From what I saw his actions were identical to those of Sterling only on that occasion Ake was not issued with a caution by referee Bobby Madley.

I would love to know what the difference was between the two incidents with the exception that by the time Sterling reached the side of the pitch some City fans had encroached over the hoardings which a player could not reasonably be expected to realise under the circumstances. The Bournemouth fans were equalling as ecstatic as players embraced them over the hoardings and stewards struggled to intervene and control what was going on. Perhaps it was because it was the home fans that were celebrating and the referee did not feel it necessary to do anything. Perhaps Sterling was punished as a sop to those same home fans to try and ease the pain of the last minute concession of the goal? I have no idea how the referee's minds work but there does not seem to be much equity in the decision making in respect of almost identical incidents.

Just another example of the lack of consistency between officials.

Addendum......

I take it back, in th brief footage shown during the highlights there is at least one fan that is on the pitch joining in the celebrations with the players. There may have been others not shown in the brief clip.

So the question is asked again.....

What is the difference?

The difference for me Skoorb is the reaction of the stewards, they don't try to stop players and fans celebrating at the perimeter and manage the situation very well.
