Manchester City have announced their squad for the group stage of the 2017/18 Champions League.

Twenty-one players have been added to the List A selection by Pep Guardiola, though he will also be able to call upon the services of those players who are born on or after the 1 January 1996 and have played for the club for an uninterrupted period of two years – they are included on UEFA’s List B.

The 21-man List A squad is:

Goalkeepers
Claudio Bravo, Ederson, Aro Muric

Defenders
Danilo, Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Benjamin Mendy, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, Kyle Walker

Midfielders
Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Yaya Toure

Forwards
Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus

EDS goalkeeper John, has a decent chance of making it to Club level somewhere, if not here.

By a process of deduction I am assuming that there is also a B list - might this be where Foden, Diaz, Tosin et al find themselves?

Just as there are the above plus Muric in the A squad is there another striker bursting at the EDS seams for a crack at the big time?

You have deduced correctly Mr. 'tache, there is a B list, to be eligible for this B list you must be under 21 and have played with the club for at least two years.

Muric hasn't been with the club 2 years hence his inclusion on the A list.

There's a 17 year old Swiss lad called Lorenzo Gonzalez who I believe is first choice striker for the EDS currently. Not sure if he's bursting or not.

We've another striker called Thierry Ambrose, a 20 year old French lad, who is currently on loan with NEC Breda that is probably closer to the seams but then he's no longer with the EDS.

I hope that helps.

Jadon Sancho was easy to spot he has something and Dortmund may find something very special if handled right.

We have a few coming through and it will be interesting to see if they have progressed this season

Thanks for that Bluedub - I think I've heard of Ambrose, if he's 20 then he has probably been kicking around a while. Perhaps this is where Unal might have come in useful?

Don't suppose Guidetti is still on the books...?

Ambrose has struggled with injuries but is fairly prolific when he plays, he's already scored 2 in 3 for NAC Breda.

I think we've left ourselves a goalscorer short with the failed Sanchez bid, so yes in hindsight it may have been better to keep Unal around, or Kelechi even. Some consolation I guess in that we have buyback clauses for both of them.

This is when we really need goalscoring from our midfielders to fill that 'gap'. As highlighted in the current Match Preview & MDT, Mané has scored 3 goals so far for the dippers. It is of course early days but it is an important area which can help take the pressure off Sergio & Gabriel.

Hitting the post less frequently might be a start!

DeBruyne hit it nine times in the league last season, nine effing times!!

Gundogan showed an eye for goal in the brief period he was available for last season. Praying he can get back to full fitness.

The way I see it is this, if we take what each of our players scores on average per season we're going to be short of around 15 goals or so thats needed for us to win the title. This is why I was desperate for us to get Sanchez.

In his brief cameo last season I thought Gundogan showed the same sort of goal scoring instincts that made Lampard such a potent contributor of goals from midfield - late arrival into the penalty area etc. Have high hopes that he regains full fitness and can deliver.

I hadn't realised KDB had struck the woodwork so many times las season.
