A masterclass from our lads, all we will get is excuses as to what would have been without the send off, well I think we would have won anyway, and that fifth goal, what a beauty.

Ederson to be charged with 'simulation'?

On Sky's urging the FA Panel on diving are to review Ederson's actions after the clash with Mane.

A Sky spokesman stated :-

"We have urged the FA to review the footage of the incident as it totally spoiled our narrative for the game. The goal keeper had no right to be in that area of the pitch and it was at his own risk that he got in the way of the Liverpool player's boot - it was outrageous.

"The fact that the boot was head height and he made no contact with the ball are irrelevant and we fully support our commentator's constant whining and moaning about the decision to issue a red card.

"The goal keeper clearly threw himself to the floor and simulated having a broken jaw and cheekbone and on these grounds we feel that he should receive the maximum punishment available to the panel and also be banned from playing well and making saves"

"We have formally requested the Premier League to insist that Claudio Bravo be forced to play in goal for Manchester City. He offers far more ammunition to our commentary team who frankly get flummoxed when Ederson stops the ball"

A City spokesman said

Liverpool did expose us down that left but I refute any suggestion that just because we have lost Vinnie, does not mean all of a sudden we have a fagile defence again.

I do suggest however that Ota does not play that left sided, he just cannot play it and Pep needs to sort that sooner than later.

Only Huddersfield have conceded fewer goals. It's a myth our defence is poor. It's scary, but not poor

Swap Otter and Stones maybe?

Or drop Otter and have a back three of Danilo, Stones, Vinnie?

Otamendi is the new Bravo.

After Ederson's arrival deprived the media of their scapegoat and whipping boy my impression of the commentary that I have witnessed from Sky (notably the twat Gary Neville) is that he has now decided Otamendi is the latest target for derision. After criticising his performance against Everton, he was straight on his case again yesterday and declaring to all Premier League managers and forwards that this is the guy to target. This is the weak spot to exploit.......

Last season they focused so relentlessly on the 'playing out from the back' myth that I am sure other teams upped their game and pressed City higher and with more intensity than they did Spurs, Arsenal or the rags all of whose keepers will receive the ball and try and play it to feet if they can. They seemed to believe that Guardiola's treatment of Joe Hart merited special attention on how he wants his keepers to play and hey presto it was discussed ad nauseam every time we played. I m convinced it played a factor in making Bravo's life a living hell on the pitch (he could have done better with some shots but the never ending focus on the 'ball at his feet' upped the ante no end IMO).

Sides are already targeting Otamendi and try and channel City to play the ball to him.

On the right Otamendi is as good as any CB, he has his faults like diving in too soon but not winning te ball leaving us exposed, He cannot play on the left, but I think Stones can

Yes indeed. Weaknesses can be exploited and I am pretty sure this will not have escaped the meticulous Gurdaiola so he needs to find the solution soon. He did something about it when we played Everton but got zero credit for recognising the vulnerability and making the tactical switch and again yesterday he took the opportunity to give The Much Maligned Mangala* some game time - zero credit for doing so.

*Actually I thought The Mangler did rather well. Whilst not under massive pressure nevertheless he did ok for me. Won his headers, happy to receive the ball, played a lovely pass into KDB which lead to the fourth goal. Hope he gets more of a chance.

**Danilo also did well given flexibility that he has shown. Neville and Tyler once again were just **cking idiots when they basically described him as "not knowing what he was supposed to do". Wrong morons. He did exactly what his coach asked in a thoroughly professional way.

Was getting on my hobby horse about Tyler and Neville. May have to save it for a thread all of it's own with special emphasis on the childish sarcasm whenever a City player tackled someone and they spouted "endangering an opponent"

I agree Skoorb childish was the word I was looking for.

If you remember Scoles was sent off for a high boot on Zaba in the FA Cup semi and that was just his thigh and was the right decision. Mané is off the ground eye on the ball or not he is not in control (unless he can fly like superman of course) and Neville and Tyler should hold their hands up here, but will they?

No they won't. They dug themselves a hole and will not back down from their position. Neville was the chief architect and Tyler his enabler.

If you transplant that incident to the centre circle and Mané flies in with both feet off the ground 'to win the ball' in a challenge 'which he has to make' where he is 'going for the ball' and is 'only has eyes for the ball' .....but catches David Silva at knee height and causes serious injury to his leg or knee it would be a straight red. No questions asked. Mané was in mid-air, he leapt to win the ball with both feet off the ground. What is there to debate?

That there is any discussion is utterly baffling.

I just had to watch the whole match again, just to make sure we scored 5 goals. Even better watching the game a second time. I don't think Ota is that bad, sitting on a yellow he had to be careful.

I don't think he is either - was exposed a we bit early on with Mendy pushing forward and still integrating into the side etc but as you say they have to pick on someone and he has been nominated as the replacement fall-guy in Bravo's absence.

He certainly does not like the left but is a tough nut otherwise and I agree John, he was being careful to the point of sticking his hands behind his back when balls came into his action in the penalty area, taking no chances at all. He did look more comfortable when they switched him though.

I still think Ota is a good defender BD, but not on the left where he has no left foot and needs that extra touch there he looks awkward and easy to beat, Stonsey on the other hand I think is young enough to take that role, but will Pep go back in for Evans or another left sided CB. come the new year (another daft window- They vote to close the window before the season and then do nothing about the window in the middle of the season)
