City consider legal action over La Liga La Liga president's comments

La Liga president Javier Tebas described City as "peeing in the pool" in reference to the amounts of money the club have invested in manager Pep Guardiola's squad.

That he would make these comments is clearly bad enough but the fact that he expressed these 'thoughts' whilst at the Soccerex conference in Manchester just makes it in even poorer taste.

City have responded:-

"We note the public comments made by Mr. Tebas today and earlier this week. Uefa’s statement of the 4th of September is clear and based on accurate information."

"By contrast, Mr. Tebas’ statements are ill-informed and in parts pure fiction."

"As you would expect, Manchester City Football Club and the City Football Group are seeking appropriate legal counsel and will act accordingly on that advice.”

I'm no lawyer but would have thought that the club certainly could claim that they were damaging to the City's reputation and global image. I think he has strayed into the realm of slander.....

slander

noun
1.
the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation.

verb
1.
make false and damaging statements about (someone).

synonyms: defame, defame someone's character, blacken someone's name, give someone a bad name, tell lies about, speak ill/evil of, drag through the mud/mire, throw/sling/fling mud at, sully someone's reputation, libel, smear, run a smear campaign against, cast aspersions on, spread scandal about, besmirch, tarnish, taint, misrepresent

His comments seems to fit the definition as far as I can see.....

Football is darn near the only thing Spain is great at. Their attempts to tear others down won't keep them there.

No hint of bitterness from this Gooner source then?

Taking paranoia to unhealthy levels......

"La Liga awakens to the dangers of City group’s football franchise scheme. But where will they venture next?"

That guy^ is batshit crazy. I'm not giving him the satisfaction of clicking his link.

The Pozzo family owned Udinese, Watford and Granada at the same time, I may be mistaken but I don't recall anyone having an issue with this.

The Spanish FA gave the green light for the City Football Group to invest in Girona.

There has been no rules broken so they all go and fecking do one.
