Crystal Palace are due to play City at the Etihad on Saturday 23rd September.

After losing their first four league matches under him Palace are naturally anchored in the bottom three. As a result Dutch footballing legend Frank de Boer is currently the favourite candidate to be the first manager in the Premier League to be handed his P45.

So the question is........will he still be at the helm by the time Palace travel north to play City in just under two weeks?

Lose at home to Southampton and he will be a goner but I don't think he'll be sacked before then.

I don't get why they hired him in the first place. De Boer's style is highly technical, from the Ajax school of thought, similar to Pep in some ways. To play that football you need a squad suited to it, Palace's squad just isn't and a massive overhaul of personnel would be required to get them playing that way.

Idiotic decision to hire him unless you are willing to give him the time and money required to be successful.

Can't disagree with any of that. I watched their game yesterday and they weren't that bad and but for the bizarre goal they conceded, they could have come away with a draw. I would, however, have given him a couple more games before pulling the trigger. Having said that, he is a perfect example of a fine past-player who just doesn't have what it takes to be a manager.

He did do pretty well at Ajax to be fair, 4 league titles in 6 years, although has to be acknowledged that there isn't much competition. He schooled Mancini when we played them in CL a few years back.

There were even rumours that he was on our shortlist to replace Mancini.

His CV ain't looking so good now though.

Palace had that lovely kit in the 70's, the sort of maroon with thin blue stripes and yellow collars.
