I have always regarded Colin Bell as incomparable.......I no longer believe that is true. This guy is the closest I have seen to the the City Legend. Priceless.

As for Savage - fair play for undergoing a complete conversion but the bloke remains a total clown and adds zero value to any discussion.

I still think Bell was better because he scored a lot of goals. However, Red Kev is still getting better.

I was listening to 606 and heard him say that but to put it into context he was asked who of a group of big name players he would pay to watch in KDB's first season, a city fan got into him a bit later and he said he got it totally wrong and didn't mind admitting it.

Didn't Savage say that he was (in his opinion) the best midfielder in Europe at the moment?

But Merlin is still the more...magical.

As for better than Bell - Red Kev plays on better pitches, is surrounded by better players and doesn't get clobbered like they did back in the 1970's. Against that the game is faster these days so who really knows?

Fair enough, don't know who he was comparing him with but the season before he came to us he was sensational.

He said - "At this minute in time he is the best midfielder in the world"

606 podcast listen from 23:27 (also 1:40 when watford fan blaming the ref for their loss) -

That is a very good point about the quality of the pitches, the physicality and the speed of the game. It is indeed difficult to make direct comparisons. Perhaps I should say he reminds me the most of Bell's elegance and smooth skills.

Silva D is magical and has provided some of my favourite ever moments in recent times - there was one game (v Wigan or was it Everton?) a few years back where he collected the ball in the centre circle, turned a full 360 controlling the ball only on his left foot, surrounded by opponents and laid an inch perfect pass through for Milner to score. Pure footballing poetry.

In respect of Savage - I simply don't find him a credible 'pundit'.

I couldn't be doing with him but having listed to the Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy podcasts i changed my mind he is not be the best pundit and knows it but he is a lot better than a lot of them.
