Pat Nevin ha did better watch out. He risks ejection from the BBC if he keeps up this ‘off narrative’ nonsense.......giving credit to Pep Guardiola for improving players and City’s success rather than sticking to the usual mantra of “my mum couldn’t win the league with the money they’ve spent on players”....

KDB was always an excellent player, but Pep has made him great by teaching him to defend.

Fair play to Nevin, saying it like it is.

The reaction to this piece on the Twitter yesterday was quite amusing. It was the usual 'chequebook manager' and 'fraudiola' type comments, as in how dare anyone give Pep credit.

That is not unexpected. I think the guy is on a hiding to nothing in this country I really do. Any success will be put down to the amount spent by the club rather than anything he does on the training pitches.

Typical of this were Neville’s comments when Pep recognised Otamendi was having trouble dealing with Calvert-Lewin in the Everton game and so he made a tactical switch. This was all down to Otamendi being ‘rubbish’ and zero credit to the manager for recognising a problem and making a change.

For me the players seem far more in tune with his Juego de Posicion philosophy and are working harder. But no, for some it will only about how much the players cost rather in game them to gel.

If they play well it’s because they cost a fortune; if they play badly it’s because he’s a poor coach

Always liked Nevin - at least as a punter.

Excellent taste in music from what I remember, bit of a maverick in footballer terms.
