We aren't as lethal without his pace and lethal crossing abilities. Time for Danilo and Delph to step up. I'm shattered.

If he has ruptured his ACL as some reports seem to be suggesting then what's he doing climbing steps on crutches?

Interesting that Pep mentioned Zinchenko as an option, get him in there against Wolves to see if he can handle it.

I cannot believe that if it was confirmed it was an ACL that he would have been allowed to climb steps on crutches The height of irresponsibility.

If he requires surgery to repair he will be out for 9 months or more, just hope it is not a tear or rupture.

Delph did well at left back, but he is not the answer, it will be open the purse come January, we just don't have the cover

Suffice to say, we can forget about him this season. I really like Delph, but he isn't a true fullback. I'm with BD, let's get Zinchenko in there and see how he does. We need some real pace on the outside, and Delph isn't going to give us that.

I like the idea of giving Zinchenko a go.

Who was the Shaktar left back last night ?

Unbelievable.

Twice in two seasons we have had a key piece of the ‘jigsaw’ suffer the same injury. What are the fecking chances

I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery and wish him well on that long and difficult road. I am sure he will get massively support from Ilkay Gundogan.

Statement from Manchester City -

“Manchester City FC can confirm that Benjamin Mendy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The French defender sustained the injury during the first half of the Saturday’s 5-0 Premier League victory at home to Crystal Palace.

“After initial tests in Manchester at the start of the week, Benjamin travelled to Barcelona to see a specialist doctor, where further examinations of the knee today confirmed the extent of the injury. Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona, and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery. mancity.com will bring you regular updates regarding his rehabilitation.”

Such a shame.

A real body blow for the player, Guradiola and the Squad - his absence undermines so much of the potent attacking threat Guardiola was seeking, stretching the pitch both width and lengthways and providing incisive crosses for the attackers. Others will have to step up notably Danilo, perhaps Delph and maybe Zinchenko but there is no direct replacement and the most relieved people will be every right back in the Premier League.
