Kompany has been called up to the Belgium squad for the upcoming internationals.

He's not fit enough to play for us apparently but he's OK to join up with Belgium for completely meaningless games.

Arrrggghhhhhhhhhh

He won't call quits on his international career with the World Cup looming next summer.

But as I have been musing recently in some posts - his latest 'return date' became a moveable feast and has just made me wonder whether this last incident pushed Pep's patience a bit too far. I think he implied after the last injury that the Belgium team hadn't "looked after him as well as we do". Either they have some incredibly stringent levels for various test results from his blood etc which provide markers for his fitness level which he hasn't yet achieved and so remains unavailable as far as City are concerned...........or, perhaps Pep has been sending a message to his club captain by delaying his selection.

Pep on Kompany....

"No way [will Kompany be fit to play against Chelsea],” he said.

“He didn’t make one training session with us since one month ago, the Gibraltar game.

“I spoke to Roberto Martinez [Belgium manager]. He told me he will go there to meet with the Belgium doctors but he is coming back.

"Of course he cannot play with Belgium."

I do not understand why they have called him up knowing he is injured, they have done this before and played him, for 90 minutes in what BD quite rightly points out as a meaningless game, after only just returning from injury, has cost us dearly, but much as I love Vinnie, it is time to move on and hope that the bond between Stones and Otamendi becomes stronger, but Nico is back to going to ground in areas he does not need to.

I cannot see VK now playing any major role at City and Pep will be looking for a class act at CB and left back

^ Vinny remains our best defender and of course he wants to play for his country. If fit Pep will play him. We are a better side with him playing and marshalling the troops.

He is not our best defender if he is consistently in the treatment room and is there not because of what he does at City but what they do to him in the Belgium set up.

I never thought it would come to this, but it seems like his days are numbered. Some of it not his fault, and a lot of it of his own doing. He's just too unreliable, and it's time to find his replacement. Stoney might be that man one day, but until then, we need another proven defender.
