Master Pep Guardiola is at the peak of his powers - we should appreciate him more

There was a moment during Pep Guardiola’s first season in England when it occurred to me he may not only be the greatest coach in the world, but also the most underrated.

I had my doubts last season and even though it is early doors in this one, The football has been a joy to watch and most of the media had a field day, when he failed to win a trophy with City and to get into the last 16 of the Champions League and that was good that had happened.

We may not win anything this season, but already my respect for him has risen as one of our best ever managers, with his style of flowing football, his persistence in wanting City to play the way he knows will bring success and if you do not subscribe then no hard feelings.

I remember reading last season that a Chelsea fan was glad they had dodged the bullet by not getting john Stones, but other players who have come to the Club have been a revelation, Fabian Delph revitalised as a left back, Sterling top scorer the butt of some scathing criticism last season, I just hope that this is the start of something special.

Carragher is right - Why do people want him to fail, already you can see his influence on other teams trying to emulate his style.

A fair assessment Mr Carragher thank you

Finally. That I should one of the most sensible, balanced pieces I have read on the work Guardiola has been doing at our club. The point about not inheriting an all conquering Barcelona side is well made as is the fact that Ancelotti only lasted 18 months. Well said Jamie Carragher.

I am so pleased for Pep - he knows that the job is should not done, he has said so himself at press conferences, but he has stuck to his principles and is seeing his faith in his methods and his squad being repaid weekly. Researching the articles posted on here before the start of last season and reading some of the books written about Pep helped me keep the faith and I see only bitterness in the desire others have in wanting him to fail. They inhabit a strange world and it’s not one I would ever want to live in.

I note your point Skoorb about the media banging on about how to Stop City, If it was that simple then Barcelona would not be a top club anymore, it is more a question of if you can't beat them join them and then play them at their own game.

This can only be good for domestic football on the whole and the home nations teams (inc Ireland) as they have finally adapted and all the Nations look better and are all challenging by places in International Tournaments.
