Cautious rotation essential now. Spanish Dave's ankles rested.

He looked a bit off the other day against Huddersfield and probably a rest will do him good, I was expecting VK4 to miss tonight, but probably he will miss West Ham unless he shows no reaction to playing midweek

I will add that David Silva even at 80% is awesome and can kill a defence in seconds

Ilkay Gundogan:

"It feels like it's getting harder and harder for us. Southampton are a team who defend but also know how to play. They will be tougher than we thought maybe a few days ago.

"It's very exciting here, you can imagine. It's a lot of fun to train and play with these guys. We want to keep up our winning streak. It's up to us, we want to have fun tonight. It's my first league start of the season, it's been a long wait."

I was listening to Pep on Olex Zinchenko and he really likes this player and may get some minutes tonight, but definitely will be playing against Shakhtar, I think that City would rather Shakhtar goes through in second place rather than Naples, who I thought looked quite tasty, but over confident.

Charlie Austin out for The saints and in come Shane Long a pain in the arse and will run all day for you.

Pep Guardiola (on Ilkay Gundogan's first Premier League start of the campaign):

"He was injured for a long time last season so we cannot put too many minutes on him.

"He's ready to play. We have a lot of games and we are going to rotate."

Everton were very poor and I don't expect our defence to surrender like Everton did, but if Southampton want to come out and play that is OK, but again like Huddersfield play a flat back 10 and hope for a counter

The good news is that Vinnie looks Ok and maybe we could save some money if Elia gets with the programme.

I've just checked out a Southampton forum. They're going mental at all the changes their manager has made. I was right. They have their eye on their derby game with Bournemouth next.

An underpopulated Emirates tonight. But they'll still declare a 60,000 attendance!

BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

BBC Sport

I don’t think any of the Manchester City fans currently sitting shivering in front of me have quite forgotten what it feels like to lose a game, but it has been a while...

It is 219 days since Pep Guardiola's side last tasted defeat, after extra-time of their FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal, and a further 19 days since they lost in 90 minutes, against Chelsea in the Premier League on 5 April.

In all competitions, it is 26 games since they lost to the Gunners at Wembley, so City are already on the sixth-longest run in English football history.

LONGEST UNBEATEN RUN - ENGLAND (ALL COMPS)
• 1. Nottingham Forest (1978) - 40
• 2. Man Utd (1998-99) - 33
• =3. Preston (1888-89), Everton (1984-85), Arsenal (2007) - 28
• 6. Man City (2017) - 26*

They have got a bit of work to do to overhaul Celtic, who hold the European record of 62 games (again, that is in all comps) without a defeat between 1915-1917.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently on a 65-game unbeaten streak domestically, but if anyone remembers that run from 100 years ago, then please get in touch...

like all Club JB, they count their season ticket holders whether they turn up or not as they have paid for their seat.

they are 1-0 up already Lacassetteeé
