Guardiola set for contract talks

After settling into his role and showing exactly what he is capable of it is no surprise that rumours are circulating of City’s owners being keen to extend Guardiola’s time at the Club.

Nothing will happen until the summer I am quite sure when Pep will be two years into his original three year deal. Should the team continue to prosper under his tutelage and especially if they are successful in the trophy stakes then the Catalan’s negotiating position will only get stronger.

We could see him at the club for a while yet which would make Cityfans very, very happy indeed.

Oh I'd like to gut some rags, gut them like a fish. Ander Herrera springs to mind.

Seen reports of Red Kev having his contract improved and also those of Ederson, Sane and JG33. I imagine one of the questions they might ask prior to putting pen to paper might be whether the gaffer is staying, hopefully yes.

I saw this on SSN yesterday and the Sky's Spanish expert who I think did Pep's biography says that he wont sign anything longer that 12 months at a time, I just hope that if and when he does decide to up sticks, that we have the Pep blueprint in place for other coaches to follow.

Having said that He and Us(City) still have things to accomplish and he may want to stay and do just that.

Guardiola does work with an intensity which is difficult to maintain. One of the reasons he left Barcelona and then took his year’s sabbatical was to recover from the burnout that he was feeling. He only stayed at Bayern for three years before moving on to his next challenge at City.

That said he is older and more experienced now and is not facing the same level of direct intensity that he faced in La Liga where the Barca-Real Madrid duopoly creates pressures that we can only dream of including from within Barca with the involvement of that club’s President etc.

So he may well feel that at City he can take a longer view and provided he ensures that the side is freshened up and the back room staff also don’t get stale he may well feel that he can achieve more over a longer period especially as he seems to have so much more control at our club.

These may well be factors which will influence the decisions of KDB, Ederson, Sané & co.
