Manchester City v Burnley - 3pm Sat 6th Jan - FA Cup Preview and Match Day Thread

Yes, his fuss over the foul on Bernardo needed challenging but the media and pundits were too enamoured of his 'hail fellow, well met' good ol' 'just a down to earth northern lad at heart' routine that they just chuckled along with his analogy about his 'lad in my garden' tripe.

I just wonder whether they will be encouraged by recent examples of how you can 'just leave your foot in' tackles and especially early on.

Graham Scott - we will be watching you.

Unfortunately that is what it is boiling down to, watching the referee, because of the poison inserted by Maureen, we are however good enough to overcome these hurdles and although the FA Cup is a distraction, we would simply love to win it again.

Tough game today and I am predicting a 2-1 win in front of a capacity crowd. I would consider a false nine no striker for this one with Kun in reserve. Big week ahead! Come On City!

Think it's going to be difficult today...

With all this business of other clubs being beastly towards our heroes it does make me wish for a Souness type figure who could suggest to the opposition's offender that if he does it again he'd have him to deal with.

I am glad Olex gets a chance again, but sorry that Yaya cannot get a game because he slows down the play, but is still useful at closing down games, I wonder if Pep didn't believe Dyche when he said he would not pick his strongest team.

Looks like Burnley too have put out a strong team.

Burnley: Nick Pope, Charlie Taylor, Matt Lowton, Ben Mee, Kevin Long, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood, Ashley Barnes, Jeff Hendrick, Sam Vokes

Subs: Anders Lindegaard, Dean Marney, Steve Defour, Jonathan Walters, Ulvestad, Nahki Wells, Phil Bardsley

No charge of “disrespecting the cup” can come Pep’s way then. Taking this seriously.

In the few appearances that Yaya has made it is plain that whilst he can still contribute, his tendency to want the play to be routed through him is at odds with the speed with which Pep wants the ball moved forward. Yaya has always had a tendency to receive the ball from the defenders and more often than not just return it to one of them. His style is not as incisive as Pep would like but as mentioned, there is a role ingames a team the right moment. He can still pick a pass and has the experience to see out games. (That said it was his loss of the ball in added time against Palace led to him giving away the free kick which led to the Grinning Twat being awarded the penalty vs Sterling so he needs to be aware of this)

Missed Chance
Close! Aguero drives to the byline and cuts back to Silva, whose shot seemed to cannon back off the post. Sane is next to have a go but his volley drags wide. City cranking it up here!
