Stockport County vs. Manchester City FC

Edgeley Park

2nd August 2008

1pm

Stockport County v MCFC

City travel to Edgeley park where they have failed to win there in three league attempts

Vital Quotes:

No Quote's available on the game.

Stockport County Team News:

Stockport will probably field their new striker Pistol Pete Thompson who was signed from Linfield last week. There is no other news concerning any major injury worries so I expect a full squad for the Hatters today.

Player to watch: Pete Thompson

Pete is stepping into the shadows left by Liam Dickinson and I am sure that Jim Gannon has found an able replacement in Pete.

Manchester City FC Team News:

Tal Ben Haim should be making his debut today and I expect there will be a few changes from Thursday night's UEFA game at Oakwell because most players played ninety minutes and Mark Hughes will not want to over exert his players at this stage of the pre-season. So I expect Ched Evans to be one of the starters with Kelvin Etuhu and Didi Hamann.

Player to watch: Ched Evans

The welsh wonderkid will cause the Stockport defence a lot of problems.

Match Facts & Stats

City have played three league games at Edgeley park and have drawn one and lost two. So perhaps it is just one of those grounds that City is destined never to do well at; but under a new regime of Mark Hughes, things might be different but I will not hold my breath.

Ref Watch:

The referee has not been publicly announced.

Match Prediction:

City to play well, but County to cause problems as well and so a repeat of the 1999/2000 league result is likely. SCFC 2 - 2 MCFC.

Next Fixtures:

Celtic away on Wednesday 6th Aug at 7:45pm kick off on Setanta.

That lad certainly knows where the onion bag is, even when he's on crutches!

"City travel to Edgeley park where they have failed to win there in three league attempts" - make that four. A bit lucky eh lads.... my trip round to the in-laws could have been so much more fun if the game had ended a few minutes earlier.

Check out the balanced and not bitter match report on Vital Stockport! It's marvellous!

.. and they call us bitter! Priceless. Think I will have a wander of to Vital County.

Stunning. They repeatedly refer to Bojinov as being fat! The lad's as strong as an ox and was reknowned for his strength in Italy.

Teaser for all you anoraks out there. Starter for 10. When did City last beat little old County at EP in a league match? Can you list the last five league encounters between the teams at EP? Just a bit of fun. No prizes for this. Well, ok, you twisted my arm, maybe a part share of a house in Clayton for the losers.

Haha, if you don't think Bojinovs fat there's something seriously wrong with you. He makes an elephant look like a kitten. So what if he was considered a strong player in Italy? It's p*** easy in that league, I could play in that league and I'm crap. You could find next weeks football results from Italy FFS. And you don't care about us? What was all that leaping up and down when you equalised time then? Fatty Boj jumped or something?
