Celtic v Manchester City

City travel up to the east end of Glasgow to face scottish champions Celtic in their last away pre-season fixture.

Vital Quotes:

Mark Hughes talks about the game: 'There will be good crowds, good atmospheres at Celtic Park and our own ground. I`ve been lucky enough to see a few games at Celtic over the years, and the support that they have is unbelievable. We`ll embrace that, and I may take a couple of younger players along to sample the atmosphere, because it is so unique."

He continues: "We go into every game to win, even out on the training ground we want every game to be competitive and have an edge. We are really looking forward to this and the AC Milan game on Saturday because we know that they are against quality opposition.

Celtic FC Team News:

Ex-City player Georgios Samaras is likely to feature at some time during the match

Player to watch: Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink

The dutch striker is one of only a few high quality players in the Celtic squad.

Manchester City FC Team News:

With City facing a fixture pile up this month Mark Hughes will try to use the squad to the best of his ability.

Whether Vedran Corluka will be included is very debatable with all that has been in the press recently.

Player to watch: Martin Petrov

With scottish defences suspect at the best of times I am sure that Martin will take full advantage should he play.

Match Facts & Stats

Celtic are very strong at Celtic park as their champions league record their proves.

We have not played Celtic in recent years and so there is no stats readily available for any previous encounters.

Ref Watch:

Not Published.

Match Prediction:

Celtic will want to prove something in their last pre-season in front of their home fans and so I think Celtic will edge it. Celtic 2 - 1 City.

Next Fixtures:

Milan in the Thomas Cook Trophy on Saturday 9th August with a 5:15pm kick off on Channel 5.

I see Vital Celtic are obsessed with us now: http://www.celtic.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=118634 and http://www.celtic.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=118627 given the headlines today I do not give a stuff about this game. More important things to worry about.
Aston Smithy
Agree AS. the Frank Saga is more important to resolve than a meaningless football match, which is designed to get players match fit and used to playing again and experimenting with positions. What will come from it is( if the Corluka saga also drags on), whether or not he is with the squad tells its own story.
Buzz Lightyear
Somebody clatter Sam Harris early doors and he'll keep away from our penalty area....
Johnny Baguette
JB do you honestly think anyone has to clatter him, he does that on his own, he'll run round a lot and then run his hands through his hair and then get subbed.
Buzz Lightyear
Charlie in the line-up so much for all the Spud stories !!!
