Referee:Steve Bennett. This bloke needs to go back to refereeing school. Some of his decisions were bizarre to say the least, even Sky's Andy Gray said so!!

18, 214 crowd. City's fans were absolutely dominant.

Shame the team weren't JB! Steep learning curve for Robinho, Jo et al!

A see there were a few seats available in our end which means around 3500 plus City fans went to the game. Nice one lads.

Think that is 500 more than the Pie Eaters had!

Very disappointing result after a lacklustre performance. Even so we should have ground out a draw, but when the referee swapped shirts with Zaki in the tunnel... Some stats which don't show here (but are reported on Sky) show City had 82.8% passing success, as opposed to Wigan's 65.7%. They also claim City had 66.3% possession and 52.4% territorial advantage! As I wasn't at the game I can't confirm these figures (TV highlights won't do of course). But it is indisputable that the Wigan forward line have all attended drama school in pre-season -- and Steve Bennett was auditioning for Wigan "Fan of the Month." As Mark Hughes told the BBC: "He (Bennett) got the penalty wrong, it was just a coming together and their lad (Wilson Palacios) dived theatrically." That said, damn good goal from Valencia... And Zaki had a very effective game.
