Johnny On The Spot: This game served as another reminder that if Manchester City do win a trophy this season, then it will be against almighty odds...Everyone from press box to pitchside who isn't a Blue is desperate to see The Citizens fail and an increasing tactic employed by rival teams is to goad our players into situations that result in them winning free kicks and penalities and us shipping cards...West Brom employed those tactics to the letter amid another rudderless refereeing performance so it was no surprise whatsoever when the brilliantly talented but short fused young Mario Balotelli stupidly got suckered in...Beyond all that, it's all the more pleasing to see City back on track with a win that never saw The Blues get out of third gear. Some of City's passing was exceptional today and without a shadow of doubt the best footballing side won. Balotelli will now miss the Manchester derby on Wednesday night, but with Taggart's own weasels ready to make trouble, it's probably best he takes no part at this stage of his English career.

We beat 12 men convincingly today. Fantastic performance, Balotelli is the ultimate love/hate player. He has the talent to not be one of the best but -the- best forward in the world but he is so moody and petulant and that is his worst enemy. That said, he was suckered into the second yellow, the WBA defender had hold of his leg and he just tried to shove him off, then the player clutched his face theatrically and that was it. Silva again MotM, he is one of the world's great playmakers and is beginning to show it. Yaya Toure finally stepped up with a beastly performance. De Jong's return inspired his defence and gave Yaya the freedom to march forward. A very good performance in all, professional and would have been easier if not for Balotelli's sending off. Now for the derby...

Mancini will calm Mario down - the red card may do him good for future EPL games.
