Johnny On The Spot: Roberto Mancini promised changes for this League Cup stroll in the rain. He delivered by changing the entire XI that drew at Fulham and included a host of players who are defenders by trade but didn't let Mancio down...Such a controlled League Cup performance early in a season is yet another novelty for dreamland based Blues...A legion of anti-City hacks will be left crestfallen again following City's win, moreso as Owen Hargreaves made an assured goalscoring debut. Our other comeback kid Kolo Toure also excelled...This was a solid runout for a number of City fringe players who outside of a dreadful Carlos Tevez all put shifts in...City's 6ft 8in keeper Costel Pantilimon secured a clean sheet in his first start amongst plenty of lively performers...But Tevez, routinely disposessed with no chase back is drifting towards becoming the fourth choice striker at City and that's alarming in the context of an intense first half of the season...That aside, this was a solid exercise in squad rotation which will have pleased the manager and his backroom team immensely. The knowledge that West Brom took Saturday's opponents Everton into extra time lends further cause to be chipper......The draw for the Fourth Round will take place this Saturday on 24 September 2011 - The Fourth Round itself will take place in the week commencing 24 October 2011 sandwiched between the Manchester derby Away and Wolves at Home.

Delighted for Hargreaves, great start for him, could yet turn out to be the bargain of the season.

Just seen the City goals on SSNews. Hargreaves goal was a belter. Look out for the look on Hargreaves face when he runs to celebrate his goal, priceless. SSN reporting he played excellent, also Nedum getting some praise. Mario's goal was top class too even if he didn't celebrate.

That's our 18th win at home in all competitions in the last 20 games. Solid.
